If you read the comments under any post about a UK protest you’ll see eager this country is to embrace fascism. At least in America they have to approach it obliquely and have cognitive dissonance. We’re begging for it. Though we do have to advantage that the fascists haven’t fully grabbed our institutions. Yet. We still have a semi independent judiciary and a corporatist rather than out facist media.

The Communards did a number on Napoleon in 1871 (they’d just seen the back of his nephew, Napoleon III, which added a bit of spice). Obviously the statue is back up there now, though, and I live on a street named after a General who made his name invading Algeria. Some way to go.
