I was watching a video with Teddy and Mr. Wonderful (lol) where they did a salary-cap style draft of watches. Was thinking maybe we could do something like that in this thread if there’s interest.
it’s a pretty old model, there were a couple of other models in that iteration with the same 6497 movement but without the seconds hand:
No date no seconds hand crank is an unusual combo. I have a very strong preference for no dates now and even that is pretty tough to find. This Zodiac is a day/date with only a quick hack for the date. Pretty miserable rolling through the calendar and I can’t wear stuff that isn’t set. Luckily it’s also a 10k GF high beat that’s lived 50 years of life so not something I wear very often.
Your keyboards seem to upstage the watch every time.
getting a hankering for some of these old flipclocks. I feel like having one of these on my bookshelf behind me would really boost my zoom ratemyroom scores
Ah hell are we gonna do clocks? I have a lot of clocks. One of my favorite antique store / flea market finds. That one you linked looks a little rough and would probably be a great candidate for restoration.
I’m not really a big clock guy. the only real clock I have currently is an ancient seiko desk clock. It runs off a C battery basically forever and keeps OK time (it’s a little fast). It has a great humming noise.
Here’s one of my favorites due to it having smoothest silent sweep I’ve ever encountered. It’s a vintage Telechron lucite clock that keeps time by the 60 hz reference frequency from the electricity. If the power goes out, the red dot at 12 o’clock appears indicating that the time should be reset. Also has an alarm function that rings a single brassy mechanical ping like a pinball machine. These are fairly easy to find although better examples with clear lucite are more elusive.
I’d love to have this for my collection.

What is the appeal here? Does it lose one millisecond per century or something?
I mean damn it’s not even ostrich leather, just nylon?
Not quite rainbow Daytona levels of anti-fashion but have you seen the Oris “Cotton Candy” models that came out this year?
Teddy had some better shots imo:
