Also state/local races (where a small amount of money could go a lot further) and some longer term stuff.
Obama got beaten handily twice in Georgia. 12 years later, it is a purple state with two Democratic senators. Is there a Stacey Abrams in, say, South Carolina or Missouri? There must be - use that money and go find them. It almost certainly won’t pay off right away, but you have to start fighting in places like those.
I think the best reason to do this is to get them to burn money in places they don’t feel they need to. In this scenario, team with more money has the advantage.
My hot take is that money and ad spend are irrelevant in presidential races. The whole ecosystem of parasitic “strategists” revolves around this fund raising and spend but it doesn’t move the needle at all.
I agree with Tucker…Tim is probably so weird that he would go on long nationally televised rants about how upset he is over M&Ms cartoon characters no longer wearing high heels. Oh, wait.
I went to a rich Northeast Boarding School and during my time there I met plenty of people from small town Nebraska who went on to serve in the National Guard and become High School Football Coaches.
I really want to like this idea but still have PTSD from 2016 when people were talking about “should Hilary try to run up the score and nudge some close house/senate seats or focus on the blue wall”.
Forget the money. I think the single most important thing Kamala can do right now is a long sit down with a legacy media outlet. Basically, every single political podcast I listen to, website I read, and talking head show I see is hammering her for “ducking the media.” Even if her campaign thinks that is BS, that is exactly the type of narrative that can take hold and poison an entire campaign. She has the soundbyte saying she’d try to do it before the end of the month. I think that’s a good deadline. And she better do one before the debate, or else the moderators and Trump will grill her on it, and the post game analysis will focus on it because journalists love to make themselves the story.
The strategists are the ones generating the vibes we love. People are posting campaign press releases itt for the lolz. Laughing with them instead of at them.
I can hardly imagine an easier setting for batting this very thing away. Attacking her for not taking pointed questions at an event where she is, right then and there, volunteering to take pointed questions on live TV?
Same. I don’t GAF if she does a long media sit down and I doubt the types of people she’s trying to win over and/or turn out do either. The only people who seem to care are self-fellating media types and Trumpers who want to use it as an attack. Fuck norms and fuck the media. Just win baby.
The “strategists” gave us Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, they lost the most embarrassing election in modern politics, they were on track to lose twice to the former host of NBC’s The Apprentice until Nancy Pelosi made them cut it out.
