Unless a situation is actually worth taking seriously, the less said the better is always the rule. Giving a long statement in response essentially validates the attack. You come up with a sharp response of one or two sentences to use on an as-needed basis, preferably one that segues directly into your own attack, and you don’t humor it beyond that.

I don’t think it will. They’re in the “throw shit at the wall to see what sticks” stage. He’s not making his military service the centerpiece of the campaign the way Kerry did. If I had to guess they are going to go hard on the “he let Minny burn to the ground” attack. No idea how much that will matter.

The Trump audio explicitly saying he did a good job in that circumstance really does seem like an effective counter to that aspect. I’d be a bit more concerned about it otherwise.
