100% agree. He’s an excellent orator. He’s got awesome energy. He will be a great surrogate in PA. And the fact that he wasn’t the best option for this moment is actually pretty awesome. We had multiple good options which feels so foreign.

Putting on my cynicism glasses for a moment:
I know why Shapiro wasn’t picked and it has nothing to do with his baggage, etc. It’s that he spent the past two weeks grandstanding at rallies and making things about him…and there’s no doubt in my mind that Kamala’s team was looking for someone who wouldn’t try so hard to make the convo about himself. That’s the vibe Shapiro was giving off.
Sadly, I think this also factored into not choosing Pete, but for sort of the opposite reason. Pete would have naturally garnered too much attention without trying, which would lead to the same outcome…but rather than him making it about himself, the media fawning all over his Fox news hits would have eventually pushed Harris to the background.
So I kind of get it. Plus, I read that the vetting team asked and Walz expressed no interest in running for President, so yeah. Everyone else was too “shiny” I guess.

They really can’t stop being weird.
Just got home and turned on CNN. They are doing huge coverage with four of their big anchors reporting live from inside of the arena (like an NFL pregame show). I don’t remember anything like this for a Trump rally.
Walz taking in this moment, looking both very excited and on the verge of tears, has me very excited for the non teminally plugged in folk like us to get to know him. He just exudes genuineness.
