Kamala / Walz 2028

I have no strong opinion on any of them, but if Harris doesn’t want someone who could be a distraction, she would have to eliminate Shapiro from consideration.

Tired: Vice Presidents

Wired: Thrice Presidents! Pete, Walz, and Shapiro all share the office.

Just give them all a cabinet position and announce them all.

Yeah, as mentioned above, huge error is impossible at this point.

Even Beshear would not be a huge error.

I guess this is partially a semantic issue. If it’s a small error, but it ends up deciding it, does that make it a big error?

I’m not even exactly sure what process I want them to be following. Vibes? Polls? Polls in swing states only?

I do think the distraction-avoidance approach is good, and hope it leads away from Shapiro. If that takes them in a boring direction to Beshear, so be it.

Distraction avoidance and lowest odds to make a gaffe or negative press generating comment in the next 95 days. Really need to just pick the one who can best hammer the message, attack Trump/Vance, and relate to low info voters. So Walz or Pete. Beshear is too gaffe prone, or maybe not gaffe but just comes across as phony with his attacks. Shapiro could become a distraction.

If hypothetically the clubhouse favorite in internal discussions was always Beshear, these Shapiro stories have done him the great service of reframing it for me so that my reaction to that nomination would be, “Soggy piece of toast? Sure! I’m in.”

I’m kind of rooting for Beshear because it will make my m-in-law, who is from Kentucky, so happy. She loves Beshear.

Are you talking about North Carolina being a no-chance proposition for Dems? Rounding off, after Obama’s win there in 2008, it’s gone R+2, R+4, R+1, with the latest polls there being close this year. It’s a tough state and the Dems are dogs there, but it seems like it’s not too wildly optimistic to think it’s winnable this year in realistic best-case scenarios.

LOL I completely misread that. Please disregard.

I’m rooting for not Shapiro because this forum will go back to doom and gloom.

It’s going to be a kick in the nuts if they pick Shapiro, not gonna lie

Even former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) appears to be leaning in Walz’s favor. A source familiar with the California Democrat’s thinking told The Hill she “is always especially fond of former House colleagues” when asked about Harris’s running mate, a nod to Walz.

If this article is reading the tea leaves correctly and there’s any chance that Pelosi is making a behind-the-scenes push for Walz, that would be a welcome development.

Surprised to see some people going for Pete here, ever other place I’m frequenting everyone is all in on Walz then Beshear, I hear no buzz on wanting Pete as the pick even though people agree he is good at roasting the Right on shows. Shapiro seems to have too much baggage compared to them, I hope they don’t go that route. And the UAW was skeptical of Astronaut Boy and Shapiro.

Nancy using her powers for good is not something I had on my bingo card in 2024. First Harris, then Walz would be about as good as we could have expected a month ago.

Is Walz pronounced “walls” like the things I build around my heart to protect me from pain, or “waltz” like the dance?

Walls like the woman who married Steve Carell. Also the Tom Petty song.
