Being born in the Midwest I always thought Ohio was the esstern bounds. Cleveland being eastern and Cincinnati south.
I never considered any part of Pennsylvania in the Midwest. I would put parts of Kentucky before Pennsylvania.

I read it as Mcraven asking that the existence of discussions be confidential and thought it was hilarious that the reporter screenshotted it, but it makes more sense that heâs asking that the content of discussions be confidential in a âno commentâ way that nonetheless implies that discussions exist

Nah, itâs a classic Dem move to try to win over Republicans by putting a military dipshit on the ticket. It never works, voters simply do not care if the president was ever in the military or not, itâs all just pageantry and kayfabe. Donald Trump shat on generals, mocked Gold Star families, and tried to overthrow the government, and the Dems think they can win them over his voters with appeals to patriotism, itâs so goddamn stupid.
I mean who are we talking about? Al Gore in 1992, who Iâm fairly sure wasnât chosen because of his military service? The six Dem running mates since then didnât serve, I donât think. I take your broader point that thereâs a misguided impulse that Dems sometimes have to consider pandering in this way, but I donât think thereâs actually much of a recent history of follow-through on that impulse.
I donât disagree that it would be stupid if it was ever particularly close to being the final decision. But given that theyâre apparently casting a surprisingly wide net for a process expected to take less than two weeks, Iâm not particularly alarmed that a name like this was briefly among the long list of names.
