People are getting more intolerant of a lot of stuff: from protected classes to political views to social situations. The culture keeps telling people to “Get exactly what you want”, as exhorted in a hundred different ads.
Part of being a decent person is learning tolerance. I don’t see much partisan difference other than the things that people are intolerant of.

The reason conservatives are worse because the things they are intolerant of are worse. But everyone is getting angry over minor inconvenience or slight.

There are Gaza protestors at this rally again. This time Kamala addresses them by saying now is the time to agree to a ceasefire and to bring the hostages home. She says she and Biden are working hard on it.
Encouraging, but I’m gonna have to see something from polling that suggests any significant number of Republicans are going to vote for Harris before I might believe it.
I don’t know but suspect Giles sees the wind changing direction in Arizona and possibly wants to run for higher office. To be fair though, I can’t rule out he actually has some integrity. I might have to dig out the yearbook and see if it’s really the same guy I went to HS with. Obviously we didn’t run with the same crowd.
I’m not sure this type of move actually does that. It moves you into a grey zone where you’re kind of unacceptable to both parties as a candidate for higher office.
It sounds like your circle is mostly Ismailis. While they are Muslim, they tend to strike me as far mor liberal than the median Muslim. If so, your sample is skewed.
