This has always been my understanding also. Ricotta, mozzarella in a half circle of dough sealed up with a hole in top. Served with marinara on the side. Plus whatever fillings you want.

FWIW in Ohio what we called âstuffed pizzaâ is just a mound of mashed potatos and skittles.
