Seriously. Republicans have no problem when it’s Kap or some other Black or brown person being cancelled.

Not only do they not have a problem with the double standard, they enthusiastically embrace it. Never forget that they think double standards are the hallmark of a properly run society.

So apparently on the right the ENTIRE story of the Rogan/Gupta interview is that Rogan got Gupta to admit CNN lies because they said he took horse dewormer.

Sanjay Gupta: (00:02)
So for you, Joe Rogan, I would say you’ve had it.

Joe Rogan: (00:06)
Yes.

Sanjay Gupta: (00:06)
So now get one shot of the vaccine.

Joe Rogan: (00:08)
No.

Sanjay Gupta: (00:08)
Why not?

Joe Rogan: (00:09)
Because I have better immunity than I would if I was vaccinated, right?

Sanjay Gupta: (00:13)
Yes, I think your immunity is really good.

Joe Rogan: (00:16)
So why, if I’ve already gotten through COVID, and I was really only sick for a day and then five days later, I was negative. And I do have the natural antibodies now, why would I take a chance in getting vaccinated on top of that?

Sanjay Gupta: (00:29)
By the way, I’m glad you’re better.

Joe Rogan: (00:30)
Thank you.

Sanjay Gupta: (00:31)
I’m glad it only lasted a day.

Joe Rogan: (00:32)
You’re probably the only one at CNN that’s glad.

Sanjay Gupta: (00:34)
No, no, no. We’re not-

Joe Rogan: (00:35)
The rest of them are all lying about me taking horse medication. We should talk about that.

Sanjay Gupta: (00:39)
That bothered you.

Joe Rogan: (00:40)
It should bother you, too. They’re lying at your network about people taking human drugs versus drugs for veterinary-

Sanjay Gupta: (00:46)
Calling it a horse dewormer is not a flattering thing, I get that.

Joe Rogan: (00:48)
It’s a lie. It’s a lie on a news network, and it’s a lie that’s a willing… That’s a lie that they’re conscious of. It’s not a mistake. They’re unfavorably framing it as a veterinary medicine.

Sanjay Gupta: (01:02)
Well, the FDA put this thing out, you saw that. Did you see that thing that the FDA put out?

Joe Rogan: (01:07)
What did the FDA put out?

Sanjay Gupta: (01:09)
It was a tweet and it was snarky, I admit it. They said, “You are not a horse, you are not a cow, stop taking this stuff,” or something like that.

Joe Rogan: (01:15)
Why would you say that when you’re talking about a drug that’s been given out to billions and billions of people, a drug that was responsible for one of the inventors of it making the-

Sanjay Gupta: (01:23)
Nobel Prize!

Joe Rogan: (01:24)
… Nobel Prize in 2015.

Sanjay Gupta: (01:26)
’15, yeah. No, well-

Joe Rogan: (01:27)
A drug that has been shown to stop viral replication in vitro. You know that, right? Why would they lie and say that’s horse dewormer? I can afford people medicine, motherfucker. This is ridiculous. It’s just a lie.

Sanjay Gupta: (01:40)
I don’t think anyone is-

Joe Rogan: (01:41)
But don’t you think that a lie like that is dangerous on a news network, when you know that they know they’re lying? You know that they know that I took medicine. Here it is, this is Ivermectin.

Sanjay Gupta: (01:52)
You’ve got it with you.

Joe Rogan: (01:53)
This is it right here. Somebody gave it to me.

Sanjay Gupta: (01:55)
All right, hang on. The thing is we’re going so fast, I feel like I’m missing-

Joe Rogan: (02:00)
Do you think that’s a problem, that your news network lies?

Sanjay Gupta: (02:05)
Well, I don’t think-

Joe Rogan: (02:06)
Dude.

Sanjay Gupta: (02:07)
What did they say?

Joe Rogan: (02:08)
They lied and said I was taking horse dewormer. First of all, it was prescribed to me by a doctor, along with-

Sanjay Gupta: (02:14)
They shouldn’t have said it was-

Joe Rogan: (02:15)
… a bunch of other medications.

Sanjay Gupta: (02:17)
If you got a human pill, because there were people that were taking the veterinary medication and you’re not, obviously. You got it from a doctor, so it shouldn’t be called that. Ivermectin can be a very effective medication for parasitic disease and as you say, it’s probably… I think, what? A quarter billion people have taken it around the world. I get that.

Joe Rogan: (02:37)
More, way more. Way more. Billions of people have taken it.

Sanjay Gupta: (02:40)
Can I just come back to the one… I want to talk about-

Joe Rogan: (02:42)
No, no, no.

Sanjay Gupta: (02:43)
… two things on the ledger-

Joe Rogan: (02:44)
Before we get to that, does it bother you that the news network you work for out and out lied? Just outright lied about me taking horse dewormer.

Sanjay Gupta: (02:55)
They shouldn’t have said that.

Joe Rogan: (02:56)
Why did they do that?

Sanjay Gupta: (02:57)
I don’t know.

Joe Rogan: (02:58)
You didn’t ask? You’re the medical guy over there.

Sanjay Gupta: (03:01)
I didn’t ask. I should have asked before coming on your podcast.

Joe Rogan: (03:02)
But they did it with such glee.

Sanjay Gupta: (03:03)
No, Joe.

Joe Rogan: (03:05)
Yes, they did. I watched. I watched.

Sanjay Gupta: (03:07)
You watched?

Joe Rogan: (03:08)
I watched.

Sanjay Gupta: (03:08)
You watch. No, I don’t think there’s glee.

Joe Rogan: (03:10)
Yes, they did.

Sanjay Gupta: (03:11)
No one takes-

Joe Rogan: (03:12)
“Joe Rogan says he has COVID, taking livestock drug despite warnings.”

Sanjay Gupta: (03:17)
Yeah. Jamie had to pull this up, huh?

Joe Rogan: (03:19)
You want to play it?

Sanjay Gupta: (03:20)
Does she have glee?

Joe Rogan: (03:21)
This is your news network. Let’s see.

Sanjay Gupta: (03:22)
I’m going to watch. I’m going to watch.

Erin Burnett: (03:24)
Rogan telling his 13 million Instagram followers that he was treated with several drugs, and he included Ivermectin on the list, a drug used for livestock. The FDA and the CDC warn against using it to treat COVID.

Joe Rogan: (03:39)
Turns out I got COVID.

Joe Rogan: (03:41)
Look, they put a yellow filter on me, too. [crosstalk 00:03:42]

Joe Rogan: (03:42)
So we immediately threw the kitchen at it. All kinds of meds.

Joe Rogan: (03:43)
They did.

Joe Rogan: (03:44)
Monoclonal antibodies, Ivermectin.

Joe Rogan: (03:44)
Did you see the original video versus that? I look like shit there.

Joe Rogan: (03:48)
Z Pack-

Sanjay Gupta: (03:49)
I think you look good.

Joe Rogan: (03:50)
Pause, pause. That’s enough.

Joe Rogan: (03:51)
Prednisone.

Sanjay Gupta: (03:52)
I don’t think-

Joe Rogan: (03:53)
That’s enough, Jamie.

Sanjay Gupta: (03:54)
I don’t think Erin had glee.

Joe Rogan: (03:55)
Oh, it was more Brian Stelter was the gleeful one. But the point is, that’s a lie.

Sanjay Gupta: (04:01)
It can be used for humans. I get it. I totally-

Joe Rogan: (04:04)
Not just could be used for humans, is often used for humans along with all the other drugs I took. All human drugs.

Sanjay Gupta: (04:13)
Yes.

Joe Rogan: (04:13)
They know it’s a human drugs.

Sanjay Gupta: (04:16)
Right.

Joe Rogan: (04:16)
And they lied.

Sanjay Gupta: (04:17)
The thing-

Joe Rogan: (04:18)
It’s defamatory.

Sanjay Gupta: (04:20)
Yeah. They shouldn’t have done that.

Joe Rogan: (04:21)
It’s defamatory. Right?

Sanjay Gupta: (04:22)
Well, I don’t know if it’s defamatory.

Joe Rogan: (04:24)
I bet it is.

Sanjay Gupta: (04:25)
Well, I’m not a lawyer. I’m not a lawyer.

Joe Rogan: (04:28)
It’s a lie.

Sanjay Gupta: (04:29)
Well, see, here’s the thing. You can have nuanced discussions about this, right?

Joe Rogan: (04:33)
No, we can’t.

Sanjay Gupta: (04:34)
Yeah, you can.

Joe Rogan: (04:34)
We can’t have nuanced discussions about lying about someone taking horse dewormer.

Sanjay Gupta: (04:37)
There was no glee, by the way, from her. I don’t think anyone-

Joe Rogan: (04:40)
Well, I didn’t watch her.

Sanjay Gupta: (04:40)
… anyone takes peoples’ illness-

Joe Rogan: (04:44)
Oh yes, they do. Would you stop it?

Sanjay Gupta: (04:45)
They don’t want you to get sick, Joe.

Joe Rogan: (04:47)
Yes, they do. They were upset that I got healthy.

Sanjay Gupta: (04:50)
I-

Joe Rogan: (04:51)
That’s one thing they didn’t report on, the fact that I was negative five days later, and working out six days later. Six days after infection, I was back in the gym.

Sanjay Gupta: (05:00)
I’m glad.

Joe Rogan: (05:00)
Felt great.

Sanjay Gupta: (05:01)
I’m glad you do. I really am.

Joe Rogan: (05:02)
Me too. Thank you.

Sanjay Gupta: (05:03)
Most of the people-

Joe Rogan: (05:04)
I’m glad you’re glad. You’re a nice guy.

Sanjay Gupta: (05:05)
Most of the people I know I think would be glad that you… I don’t think that there’s any-

Joe Rogan: (05:09)
Eh, there’s a lot of people out there that weren’t glad, but my point is, you’re working for a news organization. If they’re lying about a comedian taking horse medication, what are they telling us about Russia? What are they telling us about Syria? Do you understand that that’s why people get concerned about the veracity of the news?

Sanjay Gupta: (05:28)
The concern was… Look, just the nuanced part of this, and you’re not taking a horse dewormer. I get it. You got that as a legitimate medication from a pharmacy.

Joe Rogan: (05:37)
Somebody gave me that.

Sanjay Gupta: (05:37)
Whatever.

Joe Rogan: (05:37)
That’s a joke. My friend Megan brought-

CNN lied! End of story. Nothing else matters.

Gupta got run over like a deer in headlights in the exchange you posted. Ridiculous that he let Rogan bully him in an exchange that involved both vaccination after getting Covid and Ivermectin.

It sounds like he was trying to concede a point that is pretty irrelevant but obviously very important to Joe, “CNN said I was taking horse dewormer (which he was), so how can we trust them on Russia and Syria?”, possibly because Gupta wanted to get to the more important stuff. But of course CNN lied is the only takeaway on the right.

The annoying part is that the actual “lie” is really more of a mischaracterization. But the derpyshphere now has their headline “Gupta admits CNN lied!” and the actual content of “the lie” is irrelevant.

Also weird that he threw in Russia and Syria. Sounds like the troll farms who are always pushing Syria/Russia have filtered through to him.

This is why you absolutely cannot engage with the Deplorable/Nazi/Republican team in good faith arguments assuming they will return the courtesy. No one should be platforming Rogan or anyone else on stuff like COVID and vaccines unless they are willing to tell them to shut the fuck up because they are wrong and stupid and unqualified to comment. Like Gupta absolutely doesn’t have to engage Joe Fucking Rogan in a peer-to-peer discussion about COVID and vaccines. He should absolutely come out swinging with “you’re an idiot on this topic and your idiocy is costing people lives”.

Yeah the Syria and Russia thing was an odd choice of ‘fake news’ examples right now. Rogan sounds ripe for the taking by misinformation farms though.

Well said. Gupta should not be worrying about appearances, politeness etc. Yell the truth if you have to.

Holy fuck. Dude is worse than Facebook.

This is a fatal flaw of the liberal/centrist technocrat class. And the right is practiced at exploiting it.

Yeah, how dors Gupta not reply with “Its great you got better so quickly. Some people will. A lot wont. Thats why we recommend the vaccine be taken by everyone. Your results arent exactly typical, and there is no evidence that Ivermectin helped produce those results.”

Jesus Christ what a snowflake.

Gupta was using the approach that works when you have a genuinely hesitant person who has been made “anti vax curious” by social media but can be persuaded with a little TLC and a talk with their doctor. But it’s a giant failure to think that will work on someone so obviously down the rabbit hole as Rogan.

Based on the transcript he would have gotten out “Its great you got better” before Bro Rogan interrupted him.

He had on Dr Rhonda Patrick on and she explained all this vaccine nonsense to him. I will say she did about as good a job as you could. She explained why what he was saying was wrong.
He asked for studies and how many people and argued against her because he knew a couple people that had “reactions” to the vaccine. I never heard him ask for how many people were in the studies or who conducted when she said elk meat and grass fed butter was good for him.
Rogan is a moron. I’ll admit I listened to him and enjoyed a lot of his podcasts. The thing is it wasn’t ever him I turned a podcast on for. If it was a solo show there is no way I would listen. I listened for all the other people he had on.

Also the other hilarious thing about rogan is he has constantly talked about getting stem cell and trt, and whatever else he can get injected into him. He has talked about hair implants and who knows what else but this vaccine is bad!!

Stupid conservatives have a blind spot for this. When someone tells them they have to do something, they are literally overwhelmed with an emotional response that insists NO NO NO YOU CAN’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO MUH RIGHTS!!! It’s self defeating to combat this primitive flight/fight response with reason. It simply won’t work. It needs to be combatted with other emotional triggers like social pressure. But the internet has allowed people to enclose themselves in safe spaces where they can find a social system that supports any view.
