Jeopardy! Thread (No spoilers until after the show EST)

I’ve been banging this drum since the very beginning. Any of the guest hosts would be fine once they get some reps in and some feedback on what to work on. She’s certainly good enough.

I also think Mayim had gotten a lot better since her try-out week.

That’s kind of my point. Everyone would have improved after watching 5 shows of themselves doing it.

Nice op-ed Amodio wrote, made me like him even more

one key part

The day I lost, I went in feeling a little “off” physically, but I had felt worse before and then won with no problem, so I didn’t think anything of it. Then, I gradually saw that I wasn’t remembering things that I really should have been able to remember, and I was mis-reading clues in front of me. As that was happening, I began to see where the path ahead of me was leading. I’m quite pleased with how I kept steady throughout. I don’t think my emotions or confidence played that much into it, what I did feel was that there was evidence that my mind wasn’t working at full capacity.

I didn’t lose a game of Jeopardy! There were two people who fought hard to win, and one of them won. It was a poorly timed downturn for me, because I was up against two of the best and they did a great job capitalizing on that.

I wasn’t being fed the answers when I was winning and I didn’t throw the game when I lost. It’s just a competition, I was doing well and then I lost. There’s nothing more to it. My buzzer was working fine. The only thing that wasn’t working was my brain at full capacity. The theories don’t upset me, people think all sorts of crazy things. But I do have the power not to acknowledge them.

My wife told me about all the conspiracy theories on the Jeopardy FB page the night after, and I just shake my head that he felt he needed to include this. I find the theorizing so insulting to the other two contestants who both played really well that night.

Also, I find it really sad that so many people choose to let cynicism dominate their lives so much.

There were SO MANY posts about how bad his low (correct) wager in FJ was and therefore he must have thrown the game intentionally, that I felt like crying. We are too stupid for life.

Ugh, it’s hard to watch.

Current champ waging $2k on a DD with a 20k lead and two clues to go. Plus all the other stuff you mention as well. No DD hunting at all.

New guy at 9 days but has been vulnerable a couple of times this week. Bets pretty small on DDs.

And speaking of DDs, recommend WoF today. Usually don’t watch J! Live but did today and wheel is on right after.

tonight was a heartbreaker. cute girl neuroscience phd almost had the champ, who is thoroughly villainous in my eyes. he always has this smug smile as he gets endless categories about acting and movies and bets like an idiot on doubles

When they flashed cliff craven’s pic on the screen, someone should have buzzed in with “who is someone that has never been in my kitchen”

Glad someone else noticed, but really J! is tailor made for theater bros like this. He also mops on Bible categories, yet is generally clueless on cultural stuff that’s not completely white people shit like (non-Classical) music and sports.

The look on his face when he rang in by mistake near the end and cost himself the win was priceless.

I watched a few of his episodes and he seemed fine. I don’t get the hate. Just seemed like a guy.

I don’t like him because he fucking sucks at DD bets

To be fair, Matt probably left 300K on the table in DD bets over the course of his run

Glad he is gone. Matt kills him in ToC.

First round category: “presidents not born in the United States”

My 17-year-old, instantly: OBAMA

Good sense of humor or a cause for concern?

If it were the latter I’m not sure we would be hearing about it.
