my favorite was the financial news anchor guy. fuckin blended into the background like wallpaper he was perfect
I liked Buck the best as well. He treated it like a football game he was enjoying. Way too many hosts were too stiff and scared to put any personality out there.
Disagree on Oz though he sucked.
100 %
1/2 of a Scaramucci is quite the length of an era
But seriously, Ken is the obvious simple, no brainer choice. I really donāt get why you are trying to force Malik to Jeopardy. I actually think the execs should give her some other game show and see how it works. But not jeopardy.
Agree that Ken is a good choice. I donāt think he wins on the strength of his performances so far. They were just OK as far as Iām concerned. However, with time and practice he will be more than fine and when you add in his Jeopardy resume, youāve got the perfect host.
Joe Buck surprisingly was a top 1 host
this is absolutely unambiguously correct
I mean, his football announcing style could aptly be described as āJeopardy Hostā so maybe itās not that surprising.
It could be that.
Could be sour grapes also. I find it a bit hard to believe heād have turned it down if offered it after the Richards debacle. But maybe he would have. I guess Iāll take him at his word, but Iām a bit skeptical.
Now if Joe Buck said after doing it he realized he didnāt want it, Iād have a much easier time believing that. Iād personally rather have his current job than the Jeopardy gig. Off the top of my head, he might be the only guest host Iād say that about.
Anderson Cooper and Aaron Rodgers surely.
Cooper maybe. Rodgers being a year or two away from being washed, is probably no for me. Obviously a younger Rodgers is a different story.
One year as an NFL starter/MVP caliber player is worth 10+ years as a game show host.

I guess in the hypothetical situation I was envisioning, I was in his spot and had already done that for a while.
If itās a scenario where I just step into his shoes (with his skill level) and Iād never experienced it before, then I suppose Iād pick that.
You have to be wired like an athlete. These guys have been football, football, football and nothing else, 24/7 since they were young.
I really donāt get why you are trying to force Malik to Jeopardy.
Seems obv that they want to bring some kind of diversity to the show, esp after all the LeVar Burton hype, plus she comes with a baked-in Big Bang fanbase. My read is also that theyāre thinking of mixing it up with some kind of alternative format with an alternate host.
Kinda seems like Rodgers isnāt wired like that though, and I do think he would retire for the Jeopardy! job.

Even if you are wired like that there is some risk/reward calculation that is subconsciously done. If Rodgers was the QB of the Bengals or something and there is ~0 EV to ship AND he knows heās close to being washed, then the Jeopardy gig sounds pretty good.
On the other hand, if he thinks heās got serious ring equity (which he could have reasonably believed until last Sunday, and I suppose still could), then itās gonna be hard to take Jeopardy over that.
I think 99.999999% of football players would take a 1-16 season over hosting a game show. Rodgers might be the exception, but the players like working out, doing drills, playing the game, being in the locker room, watching tape etc.
Thatās the stuff youāre losing more than ring equity. Football is 99% of their life during the season. Guys get lose after retiring.

Maybe if both were for the same duration. But what if itās a couple of years of 1-16 vs. a lifetime of a super cushy gig where youāre getting paid extremely well to do very little work. Tack on the fact that youāve already had a ring and successful football career, and I think Jeopardy host would be tough to turn down.
You basically never see people retire like Andrew Luck did and get out early, being like āIāve done enough Iām good.ā Itās a .01% thing. Guys play beyond when theyāre good 99% of the time. People who have been playing football since they were either a child or teenager, whose whole lives are football donāt think like that.
Athletes are absolutely wired differently, and donāt want a cushy job over the rigorous strain over playing pro sports.
I was never even good at any level and would give a lot to go back 10 years before I broke my foot/ankle/shin/big toe and could be at my physical peak.
