17.5 is a very very hard number to hit (I’ve got Julia and Jason as flukes to hit that high). Dude is very very good and it wouldn’t shock me if he hits the over though.

He’s very methodical and seems to be playing a James + longevity game.
James was always a double jeopardy daily double away from blowing it all. This guy takes an early lead (too many of his competitors are following his left/right bottom up sweep when they get control instead of DD hunting in round one) hits the Jeopardy DD for everything and then downshifts in double, hunts the DDs to get them off the board (betting low with each one) and then coasts to a runaway. I would take over 17.5 at this point.
He wont win near as much as James, but he could run longer than him.
And yes, of the guest hosts, this guy was by far the smoothest. My wife and I were commenting about how it was like he wasnt even there the majority of the game, which is exactly what a good J! host should be.
Also no delay when somebody answered correctly. The game seemed to run much faster. All of the other hosts seemed to have a second or two delay in saying “Correct”.
Didn’t he leave the door open a couple of times early in his run with too small DD wagers? Though he seems to have gotten more comfortable in the later games.
He did, but he has shored that up pretty well in the last few games. He seems very comfortable with his style right now. If he doesnt nail the J round DD, he wagers much more on the first DD in DJ.
Crucial Double Jep DD for Eraserhead today.
I was wondering what he’d do in a close game. That was ballsy.
Just sucked the life out of the other two.
I was thinking he was going to do something like $5,000 but appparently he was just using the time to work up the nerve.
Trivia: With today’s win, Matt became just the fourth contestant ever to win $50K or more in a single game more than once, joining Austin Rogers (twice), Ken Jennings (11 times) and James Holzhauer (TWENTY-FIVE FREAKING TIMES).
Not watching Jeopardy overseas but why is this guy called Eraserhead? My only guess is that his hear resembles Henry Spencer.
you really have to watch him in action to get the full effect tho
Certainly not the worst choice they could’ve made.
He was my #3 after Buzzy and Ken.
Im kinda sad the guy hosting now isnt getting the nod
Current host definitely seems the most natural. He keeps the pace of the game going much better than the other guest hosts I’ve seen.
Also, today was quite the beat down.
Til the end. I also guessed French. My wife got it.
The producer guy did as well. I remember most people being surprised at his comfort from having a host background. Of course the extreme familiarity with the game and production may have played into that.
Surprised no one got it. People forget how many Germans were here in colonial times.
