yea I’ve solved a lot of tough problems by just bringing people into a room together, but I imagine this probably varies greatly by industry
I have been in lots of successful meetings like that, but my role is especially prone to this kind of meeting. I run my company’s pension plans and often have to get buy in from other people that think about pension plans once a quarter or once a year or once in a career. This means that many of my meetings are me plus a couple of stakeholders that need to weigh in on a decision. These work best in person because I can sense when people are checking out of what they perceive as a boring esoteric pensions meeting, or when someone is confused but doesn’t want to ask a question because it’ll make them look stupid, etc. These meetings work just OK over Zoom because people can tune out easily and it’s hard for me to gauge their engagement. Over email these kinds of processes (mosdef explains complex problem and options, my perceived pros and cons of the options, then the group weighs in to clarify my pros and cons and either a decision is made or clear next steps are set out to answer specific questions) would be a complete disaster of 100 emails and no clarity.
For me it’s probably a negative number. Several times the meeting has actually resulted in things becoming worse. We would have been better off with no meeting and no action.
Depends on size of meeting. A very small meeting can accomplish a lot. A large meeting is rarely fruitful.
Large meetings aren’t really meetings, they’re seminars or webinars. A meeting should involve an exchange of ideas, a presentation by one person to a large group isn’t really a meeting.
Maybe it’s different in tech and other industries but in mine everyone just waits for the most senior person to express an opinion then falls in line behind that.
A few times. The best ones have been when the software developers in the company have given me, a guy who works with our customers, the opportunity to add some clarity and polish before a release, so as to avoid some customer confusion around the changes and the like. Doesn’t happen often enough, but it has happened.
Yeah that’s not my experience at my tech company. Meetings have been generally effective. I’ve seen shitty meetings but they aren’t common. It’s also very clear it’s part of your review if you don’t have prereads, clear objectives, etc. and waste people’s time
I like how the characters don’t have lower bodies
Are they even trying to make his avatar look like him? I love that chunky, featureless motorcycle floating across a bland grey backdrop, so immersive and riveting. Is she driving to go swing across the Pitfall! crocodile pond
I’m sure they are but it’s like making commercials in Japan. You’re getting paid a lot of money for something hopefully most of your fan base never see
Didn’t Nintendo conquer torsos and legs with the Wii like a 1000 years ago? Also, at this exact moment, I can experience a pretty realistic VR formula one experience. Rear view mirrors and everything.
LOL, Meta.
Apparently this is just a manufactured animation, and they don’t yet actually have leg technology solved.
I don’t know why Meta even have public ads and so much material for a product that’s barely even a product, promising things that border on comically optimistic.
This is legitimately hilarious. What a loser.
Imagine having infinity money and spending your time embarrassing and degrading yourself like this.
