I also have a theory that the algorithm unfairly targets black people for moderation but I can’t figure out a good way to prove it yet. it may not even be on purpose, there’s been lots of cases where algo’s go full deplorable on their own.

I am 100% sure that this is true as those algorithms are trained on data sets created by racists. It is actually really difficult to remove such bias from existing data sets and I expect Facebook isn’t even trying to do that.
In conversations with CNN Business this week, the chatbot, which was released publicly Friday and has been dubbed BlenderBot 3, said it identifies as “alive” and “human,” watches anime and has an Asian wife. It also falsely claimed that Donald Trump is still president and there is “definitely a lot of evidence” that the election was stolen.
If some of those responses weren’t concerning enough for Facebook’s parent company, users were quick to point out that the artificial intelligence-powered bot openly blasted Facebook. In one case, the chatbot reportedly said it had “deleted my account” over frustration with how Facebook handles user data.

Today Facebook wants me to be angry about the scourge of inauthentic country music. It’s totally not a dumping ground for stupid right wing nonsense though.
I recently saw a Dunkin’ charging 1.00 extra for no ice in their ice coffees.
This post somehow reminded me of “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” and I got pissed off and signed up for Meta because that heat feels good

I feel like we’re going to need the story on this. Why?
Planning to restore it a little bit but then use it as a camping vehicle. So part of it is the need for a larger vehicle to bring the dog and baby on camping trips and the other is that it is a project to work on. It runs great, is in average shape for its age, and was only $1400, so pretty small risk. If it doesn’t work out, it can easily be sold for more than my investment.

Surprised you’re so confident you can sell at a profit. I’d have guess the value of the vehicle to be less than 1400.
You might be right, especially in this current economy. I may have rose-colored glasses because the four times we’ve “flipped” a vehicle it has been easy and went pretty smooth. And I’m using “flipped” very loosely because the vehicle serves a purpose for us, we complete maintenance and perform upgrades as needed, and then get rid of it when we don’t need it anymore or find a nicer ride.
I’ve also tried convincing my partner to buy something nicer and we’ve looked at vehicles ranging from $10-30k and she’s extremely hesitant. I feel like we’re playing small ball and it isn’t a huge issue if we end up selling for at or below how much we end up putting into it.
I still use fb because of several groups I am in. It’s unfortunately still good for that. But I just scrolled the main page timeliness, which used to be all posts from friends and some ads. It is almost entirely ads and “suggested for you” content now. Like 40 posts in a row of that garbage and then one post from a friend or group. Who the fuck enjoys that as a user experience?
