It's time to delete Metabook, Twitter and TikTok (and Reddit). Fuck it, social media is cancer - a thread.

For the experienced software engineer at facebook, RSU (stock) is 50% or more of comp. The share price tanking is a huge pay cut already. (Also when the share prices go up, it’s a huge raise). A significant amount of the workforce has taken ~100k+ pay cuts already this year. Changing jobs is a chance to reset the comp.

Recruiters must be all over their workforce.

Google, Meta and others have long offered creature comforts like on-site medical attention, sushi buffets, candy stores and beanbag chairs to lure and retain top talent, which remains at a premium in the tech industry.

I laughed. Oh ya I work at Facebook for the bean bag chairs, said nobody ever.

My company is setting our internal stock price at $200. It’s at $100 right now. I am getting promoted. Doesn’t feel like a promotion

Yes that’s exactly what it means. It’s going to get bad with attrition very quickly. There are even some people with $300 targets around (that management kindly gave additional RSUs to put them at $200 with us for only a year). We were at $300 6 months ago…but pandemic stock.

How long are their RSUs locked up? Paying people in stock that’s guaranteed to hit zero even before Bitcoin sounds like something right out of the Lizard Boy playbook.

You can sell them the day they vest. Each grant pays out 6.25% of the grant each quarter for 4 years. There’s a refresh grant every year.

I don’t get why out of the money options are expensed? How is the expense calculated? Are they taxable to the employee?

Yeah if the top-ranked posts change for a couple days there are a lot of potential explanations, the most obvious of which to me is “a major war started”. Like of course that’s going to change people’s sharing behaviour.

Weren’t the old top 10 lists just straight Hannity, Bongino and Shapiro? Those recent ones Victor posted at least have some variety in them

They were all 9 out of 10 right wing derp syrup.

It’s happening!

We could probably use a google thread or just broaden this. I know a couple Amazon threads exist.

They copying attorneys on a lot of regular business w the lawyers never replying.

Sounds like material for the LOL LAW thread.

This is how they always win, use infinity resources to drag shit out forever, litigate every possible issue, never face any actual consequences of any kind. No actual individual humans are ever even mildly inconvenienced unless something really bad is discovered and they have to find some poor low level sap to pin it all on.

The campaign includes placing op-eds and letters to the editor in major regional news outlets, promoting dubious stories about alleged TikTok trends that actually originated on Facebook, and pushing to draw political reporters and local politicians into helping take down its biggest competitor.

I wouldn’t worry about it, there are probably laws that prevent this type of thing.
