It's time to delete Metabook, Twitter and TikTok (and Reddit). Fuck it, social media is cancer - a thread.

Kinda shocking to see my mother not post anything on Facebook politically-related for almost 3 weeks.

Refreshing. I mean she’s totally still voting Trump but it’s probably healthy for her to stop sharing shit like that.

You don’t say.

Yeah… we really need to nuke that company from orbit at this point. Social Media has inherent problems that are going to force us to create strong regulation to deal with them. Facebook, was optimized toward maximizing the impact of those problems over the process of probably a billion+ micro decisions. Facebook is a totally organic product of everything wrong with the internet, and it’s a significant risk to the fate of the entire species.

First time I saw content from Dan Bongino it was so ridiculous I thought it had to be parody…

I still have no idea what a Dan Bongino is and I’m not going to go searching it out.

Trump’s Federalist Society judicial appointees are going to render the entire concept of trusts null and void.

I’ve been thinking this since you started posting these, but where the fuck is the Dem leadership on this? Why aren’t they working the refs? They should be putting Mark Zuckerberg on blast daily for running a far right propaganda website. Call on all supporters to boycott Facebook unless reforms are enacted to curb their obvious GOP bias and make the platform more favorable to left/liberal content. Throwing a fit about liberal bias is what Republicans did successfully to make Facebook serve their interests. Of course, the Democrats do nothing to fight back. It’s pathetic.

The Supreme Court is a pretty small problem if the Democrats are willing to do what needs to be done and expeditiously. Right this second the only thing keeping my lawnmower on the ground is that I think they are straight up 100% lying about what their intentions are post election.

I think Biden watched for six years in real time as Mitch undemocratically blocked the country from doing the obvious right stuff it needed to do to pull itself out of a deep hole and then prosper. Then he, like the rest of us, has gotten to watch the last four years. Except it’s his entire life’s work Trump has been trampling all over.

I think there’s a decent chance the eDems are extremely angry professional politicians. Are they perfect? Of course not. They spend way too much time listening to billionaires about what would be good for society just for starters. But that doesn’t mean that they aren’t really pissed sitting on reams and reams of justification to do basically whatever they want.

If I was them I would be looking to become more powerful and to build a moat around the power I’d just captured. This is a spot where their incentives and ours are actually pretty tightly tied together. Everywhere but healthcare and UBI I’m pretty confident they’re on a similar page to the rest of us. Which is why I’m happy to spill political blood in the primaries with those as my primary issues

I can say conclusively that between this election cycle and the last one there’s absolutely no chance the eDems don’t view FB as an existential threat to themselves personally. Think about what their DM’s probably look like. The raw FB powered sewage always barely held out by tons and tons of artificial barriers always threatening to pour in. And you know a microscopic fraction of it does, which means they’re probably reading at least one message a day calling them a pedophile and making death threats.

That’s my big hope with the Supreme Court and adding states and such, is that in doing that, dem leadership can help themselves and help us, so hopefully that means they will do it.

Once I delete facebook, how do I find out about local events? I’ve essentially ad-blocked my entire life, but I like to know about stuff happening in the community.

Nextdoor or your local weekly newspaper.

Very rarely use facebook, scrolled through today, noticed this important information from my Aunt.

At first I doubted anyone had the wealth of 25x the US GDP, but I trust her.

Geez choose the outcome of one war and all of a sudden everybody thinks you’re financing every one of them!

Damn going back to mid 2000’s conspiracy theories, I remember seeing this while in college when I watched a lot of ummm interesting YouTube conspiracy vids

Hilariously the Rothschild’s were never less happy than when there was a war in Europe. They had branches in London, Paris, and Austria… no matter what happened someone was going to default on their gigantic war loans. No banker wants to have their collateral fighting a war against each other.

They did fine because the English won and the losses on loans made to Napoleon weren’t enough to make them unprofitable, but there’s no argument that they benefited from wars between Great Powers in Europe.

It’s important to note that at the time countries had a nasty habit of telling lenders to get fucked semi regularly. Quite a few European nations went bankrupt from 1400-1900.
