United kingdom? I think it’s hard to come up with a consistent definition that says UK was not a democracy because of limited suffrage while the US was despite slavery.

Yeah this is a perfect spot to trash the norms and push every boundary. I highly doubt the relevant statute requires a death certificate, just say “as far as I’m concerned he’s dead” and press forward.
People are arguing the current situation is best for Dems. I don’t know but If he’s dead or incapacitated I want to see them justify hiding it.

I don’t even think this trashes any norms! A good-faith request that a public servant prove they’re alive after a serious medical crisis is completely within the norms of standard politics.
