This seems incredibly, unbelievably stupid by Robinhood. There has to be something going on behind the scenes, they’re forfeiting huge revenue and pissing off their entire customer base on the eve of an IPO.

Another possible explanation for RH actions is they didn’t want the SEC poking around their business too much. By seeming like the catalyst to end the madness maybe they think they may avoid the scrutiny the deserve.
It’s a pretty big deal. I tried to sell off all of my Roth positions in high risk but not meme stocks yesterday because they were the types of stocks people would be leaving either to pile into the memes or support their short positions. Couldn’t do it, lost 3%. And I’ll be honest I was going to put some of the cash into AMC. Being denied liquidity was a major source of stress just for the stuff I couldn’t sell. Can’t imagine piling into a stock that will either lose a ton of value or be rigged to screw me anyway.
