Yeah, was able to make like $250 on the game on some pretty small bets.
Argentina/under 2.5 was 6/1, which was ridiculous.

I think the right odds were about what the Italy/England game is tomorrow. Argentina should have been 2.6 or so, not 3.9

MESSI

Greatest of all time.

Messi bottling that last chance followed by Brazil equalizing and then winning on penalties would have been epic. I think Messi quits international comps if that happens.

Haters furious.

I’m not sure anyone was invested enough in this to be furious. I was pulling for Messi to finally get one, since I think he is the GOAT, but even I couldn’t muster that much interest. Aside from those who bet Brazil, the only people I think would be furious would be actual Brazilians. Do we have any of those?

I dont even think they love this team. The talent drain from ~2006 is insane.

While we’re talking about the Copa America, can someone explain to me how Uruguay (prior to today) had won the most titles and has six more than Brazil. How the fuck is that possible? It is the least populous country by far (9th most populated has 2x the population).

Uruguay was really good in like pre ww2 I believe?

7 championships before 1935.

But even pre 1935, Brazil was much larger and I assume still as crazy about football? How did they bink 7 of them. And even 8 after 1935 is insane. And 2 world cups? I guess I can chalk those up to small fields and variance.

The real confusing thing to me is why it took until the 90s for France to get good. I think it was mostly about racism/integrating the black players.

Maybe. But Germany and Italy were always good, and it’s not like they were integrating much back in the day.

Gold cup has started, lol Mexico

30 to 4 shots, 82% possession, 0-0

Bets for tomorrow are in
England to win
England to win in 90
Under 2.5
England to win to nil
1-1 after 90
England and u2.5
Italy 1-0
England 1-0

Most on the under just like with Argentina/Brazil.

Belgium had plenty of room and chances with Doku, Lukaku and De Bruyne. Then Olmo was MOTM and Morata did well. If Kane, Sterling and Sancho/Saka play to their abilities, England will win.

You’ve never heard of Platini?

You and melkerson are both missing that what held back French football was their rugby, the national sport there.

Platini made the game more popular but they only achieved success by recognising the talents of their black players.

I’ve heard of him, but have literally no idea about the history of french football pre 98.

Ok. They were a really nice side to watch in the 80s and MP was brilliant, one of the goat MFers, a kind of Cesc like player,

My first sporting memories are WC98 and Canada Cup 96 respectively, sorry for being a bit younger than you!
