absolutely nobody from MLS.
Heās not from MLS. Heās going to MLS.
BJ was the assistant who stepped up as interim coach in 2023 and led the USMNT to it best play in the past 5-10 years.
I like Callaghan too! idk much about current realistic candidates, there was a time when I was hoping for Gallardo but Iāve lost track. Do not want Tuchel or Southgate which is fine bc they wonāt want us either. For Englandās sake Iād like it if Klopp landed there, seems fun and heās unafraid
Looks like heās been around college and mls for most of his coaching career, I donāt want anybody who came up in that system, or any American for that matter. Hiring an American to coach soccer is like hiring a Kenyan to coach water polo.
Heās not a candidate is he?
all the hipsters love to hate on MLS. Poo poo on newer soccer fans who want to cheer for their city that happens to be in the US and are now exposed to the sport. I guess they arenāt real football fans if they donāt have ManCity or Chelsea or Barca shit all over their walls, amirite?
lol, the system sucks, yeah, but that doesnāt mean thereās no talent there.
sorry do you mean Gallardo? I donāt really know but he was mentioned in the ESPN piece today. Idk much about him. I started liking him bc of a piece in the Athletic a couple years ago. He crushed at River Plate and was talked about a few months ago for Barca; he laid an egg in Saudi Arabia and I guess even taking that job is a reddish flag but Iām not sure how seriously to take anything that happens there. Mostly he just seems like a dude who likes the ball and attacking, who players really respond to and who takes strong interest in youth development. And he did play for DC United in the midfield alongside Fred so he understands pain. Basically the more someone reminds me of Ange the more Iām into it
Fuck this Copa BS, this is the worst.
Rodriguez has been the absolute boss so far, an angel
The Columbians seem to have a kink for publicly crying and writhing while pretending to be immobile.
Like every soccer team up a goal and down a man in a big tournament.
This has been a wildly tense half to watch.
maybe i over value youth and being already at a 1st team/leading your national team to a final level, but Foden is over 7 years older than yamal.
yamal has drastically outplayed those 3 in this tournament as well ainec. in a less talented, albeit better structured team.
But the 1 red card one lead should be implemented asap
not because San SebastiƔn is the food capital of the world and one of the greatest cities in the world to visit?
Kind of, probably didnāt expect the striker to be able to hit a howitzer through the defenderās legs to the far post so he was playing what he thought were the percentages. A top top keeper may have trusted their reactions a little more and played another foot to the far post.
In this tournament, but not over 40+ games of club competition which is better quality soccer. Also, England have underperformed mostly due to the flawed lineups Southgate has put out there.
Definitely way over value youth.
Ansu Fati was every bit as good, maybe better for Barcelona at 16 ~5 years ago.
He was on loan at Brighton last year and barely played (mostly injuries).
Lamal probably does decent numbers the next few years, but he still doesnt have 10 goals as a professional between international and club football. Haaland and Mbappe get that in a month.
Yamal had 5 goals, 5 assists over the season last year. Jude had 19/6, Mbappe often scores 30+ etc.
The thing for Yamal is now playing 3k minutes in a year, getting kicked all game while at least doubling his output.
He also isnt the best player in his own position on his own team, just Raphinha got hurt allowing him his breakout. Raphinha managed 6g9a in about half the minutes Yamal had.
Copa America should be disbanded. Take Argentina to the Euros and forget the rest.
Well, thereās that too, of course. Itās been my favorite city in the world since I first visited when I was 22. The world was a lot different then. Hell, the euro didnāt exist and Spain was still using pesetas. I was supposed to be on a 2-week tour of Spain, and I ended up spending 8 of those days in San Sebastian and the surrounding Basque Country. I am not exaggerating when I say I fell in love. Thatās the reason I was there in 2012ā¦for my third visit, lol
If I could find a way to move there and still work, Iād do it in a heartbeat.
