Why get a job as a barista when you could work part time at a dairy farm, coffee plantation, bank and paper cup factory and set your own schedule

Apparently not enough for a stylist

As of today, the spidercrab family has 2 teenage drivers. Updated insurance cost is now around $4k a year with State Farm. I told my wife, and she said she expected it to be $2k. I just lolled and said “Ok, boomer”, but there’s no way she’s right, right?

Uh, we pay 2k per year with sparkling clean driving records for 2 people.

Yeah, this is more or less what I expected. Seems ridiculous to believe that 2 adults and 2 teenagers on 3 cars would be anywhere south of $3k.

We pay $1800/yr for 2 adults, 2 cars with perfect records, and one of the cars is liability coverage only. Our liability coverage is the state max in order to qualify for an umbrella.

3 cars, 2 adults w long record, 1 recent 17 yo driver added a bit over $100/mo to the bill.
About $3.5k/yr now. Seems ok to us.

Also, wife is bigly irritated because she has no idea what “Ok, boomer” means, but knows enough that she should feel insulted.

If a rich person’s money is making them sad then they can just give it away to worthy causes, making themselves happier and other people happier and the world better. If they don’t do that because they’re selfish, then they aren’t unhappy because they have money, they’re unhappy because they’re assholes.

I’m not gonna read that.

But wealth is only isolating if you let it.

Wealthiest guy I know spends every weekend on a 72 hour bender and handing out pills to the entire rugby team that he regularly sponsors.

Seems happy to me.

A week and change back in San Diego and I have no idea how the average person can afford to live here.
