He literally created a thread solely dedicated to mocking me that the mods eventually shut down because it got creepy as fuck.

I think its fair to call a stupid idea stupid. And I always like him. I even donated to some of his causes.

I don’t see how anyone could have felt bullied by Sabo. I was certainly one of the ones who tangled with him but in hindsight I think his persona was more odd than actively bullying. He was certainly not innocent, though.

Yeah his trolling/shit posting sometimes got outta hand but I think he was frustrated by people constantly coming into his threads just to shit on him for even starting a thread so dumb from their perspective. Then as soon as people would post about how dumb it is it just ended up derailing the thread moving away from discussions of the topic at hand and with people just attacking each other (I was probably guilty in adding to this in some of his threads)
His posting style was a little different than what people are used to (which might’ve annoyed some people) but he seemed to have ideas that were interesting to discuss and also seemed to have an idea of how and in which direction he wanted the discussion to go in his threads but it’s hard to keep things as planned when there’s always a few people calling him a dangerous extremist or an idiot because of what he thought about certain systems that a lot of people feel are important to society and have to stay that way.
I think one of the things he said was that when there were kings and queens back in the day a lot of people probably couldn’t imagine a society where there wouldn’t be any kings and queens but things always change. I don’t think discussing whether our current system of landlordism should exist is a dangerous idea but others on here definitely felt it was

Agree.
In general, I think he made a strategic mistake which we are all guilty of sometimes. If you are advocating very new and somewhat “extreme” ideas you should treat opponents with sympathy. His tack was typically to call anyone questioning his views as uneducated or dumb.

I might be the forums biggest sabo Stan, he literally helped change my life. Over the Internet which is pretty hard to do. I also have called him many names and been frustrated by his posting style. Just want to go on record saying I believe he’s a top dude fwiw (maybe not much).

To switch back to the point of this thread he is a great example where some light modding would have likely prevented so many fights and ultimately his exodus.
A few minor trolling moderations and maybe some clarification on his tendency to reply to himself over and over could have turned an odd and mildly problematic poster to a forum superstar.
I agree with this, and there’s no reason mods couldn’t have done it under the existing forum rules/guidelines (essentially “be nice”).

Sure.
But there’s the other side to that coin.
Our emotions and state of mind aren’t things we can turn off like a light switch. We all spent the last four years cultivating whatever was necessary to sustain us while Trump was in office. It’s been awful. Some of us have reached for rage and aggression to fight back.
That doesn’t disappear just because Trump lost. But it will fade over time. It’s already fading. The conversation we are having in this thread illustrates how we are all trying to release that rage and come together better as humans with lives that have room for more than deposing Trump and minimizing the damage in the meantime.
This is going to take time. So by that, I mean as you were. We are working it out, and all of the recent discussion encourages me to continue with that confidence in our community.

Relatively harmless exchange i had in the mod log thread got ghosted so maybe the mods are doing the heavier handed thing, good job!
I liked some of Sabo’s posting. I felt there were times when he was incomprehensible and he reminded me of spanktehbadwookie, but he also had some interesting and different ideas and I sometimes made the effort to engage him and try to ask questions to clarify his view. I think some people just dismissed his posting because and didn’t make the effort to understand.
It’s a shame that trolls have made JAQing off a bad thing. My preferred way to interact is to ask questions and listen to the responses. Most people who ask questions to someone they disagree with seem to be setting a trap, where they are trying to create a dilemma between either walking something back vs contradicting oneself or saying something clearly wrong. Questions should be more non-directed.

Lotta people should feel bad about how they interacted with spankthebadwookie. Dude obviously and openly had some sort of language disorder and assholes constantly were telling him his posts were word salad or some other kind of juvenile crap.
Reminds me of fly coming up yesterday. Oh yeah, it was really funny when fly would ridicule spank. Really funny.
Spank could post normal anytime he wanted to and trolled PU almost as much as Chez and Wil did.
I remember making more of an effort than most to engage spank in good faith and giving up.
I like Sabo but that thread was weird.
