I don’t think moderation should be biased either. Can you point to an example of where moderation has been biased here in the last 12 months?
There was an example in my post above.
I don’t really think that is bias? I’m not going to debate how much each of the parties were to blame for this most recent dustup but surely you agree you did not behave blamelessly right? A mod getting frustrated at you for having to make a decision to moderate your behavior is not bias. In the end everyone involved got the same punishment. I don’t see the bias there.
Naturally I’m not saying I was blameless. I was guilty of firing shots back at the insulter, and why shouldn’t I?
But why does that earn me abuse from a mod? If anything that mod should be demodded, but of course the whole forum knows why he won’t be, despite it being overdue for a change.
You’re also guilty of continuing to badger both cuse and jman for months.
Sometimes when someone quotes jman I see his post, unfortunately, and he’s been taking shots at me for a long, long time, and his open hatred has also been confirmed in a PM from someone who doesn’t have him on ignore.
And again, we know why the mods won’t say anything to him. He was/is a mod at 22 and that cabal has continued into this “new start” (lol) forum.
I’ve mostly noticed him taking shots at you after you’ve taken yet another shot at him, cuse, or somebody else. Do you deny that you’ve continued to fire shots at jman and cuse for months, mostly unprovoked?
We have taken votes. If you’re sure people want more government, do some politicking and muster votes. Democracy! Right?
grunching:
I can’t say when his shots are taken, other than the ones I see when the forum software doesn’t hide them for w/e reason (this is a known software bug) because I’ve had him on ignore for a long time.
Given the alacrity with which Wookie leapt to cuse’s defence I’m sure something would have been said to me over the course of however long you think it’s been.
It wasn’t a threat.
How about a one and done rule? The third shot between two people gets them both a temp-ban. Any rules lawyering trying to count up previous shots counts as a shot. If you guppies can’t control yourself let someone else do it.
I’m actually not sure people do want it. I’m just saying there seems to be a disconnect between what the people who actually speak up say and how the voting goes in these things. That’s where I assume the silent majority jokes made upthread are coming from lol.
He won’t be demodded because most people don’t want him demodded, but you can try a vote if you want.
Why he won’t step down? I guess he feels like modship is for life.
And, yeah, mods, especially mods for life, should be much more careful about abusing posters.
I know full well why he won’t be demodded, which is why he feels free to act the way he does.
Why should a mod for life be careful about abusing members of the community? You’re basically talking about the equivalent of an unsackable police officer who can interpret and apply the law as he feels like it.
Jman looked incredibly bad in that thread where he posted memes and no one replied. He certainly wasn’t making you look bad. I don’t know how modding would have helped in the long run.
Has the “abusive” Wookie taken even one mod action on this site that wasn’t purely administrative?
I will admit I have refrained from modding certain people because I want to avoid any hint of perceived bias. I mean, in this very thread we have posts accusing the mods of being biased against people they disagree with politically.
Personally, I think that’s laughable, because I’m not 12 and I know how to differentiate between personal attacks and pollical arguments, but I also understand that not everyone sees it that way.
I ain’t got a job now, I have all the time in the world to go HAM on this forum if that’s what people want. But I don’t think you want that. You really don’t want that…
I didn’t even see that thread, or have forgotten it.
But @anon10387340 raised the spectre of me apparently badgering his pal jman.
Except he is recallable (I think), so it’s more like a popular politician doing what they like.
