I think I’ve said this before, but I’m fine with anonymizing but not deleting accounts. I’ll flip that switch if you confirm that’s what you want.
I don’t suppose there is a way to keep hidden poster’s posts for triggering the unread notification until someone you aren’t ignoring posts that thread?
I think this has always been a problem, and I don’t know of any way to change it.
some people need to practice better self control, apparently.
Thanks
Confirmed. Thanks in advance
What happened?
Thanks Trump
This kind of stuff never happened when Biden was president.
The server levels of woke ran dangerously low.
This is where it would be great to have a tech oriented person here.
Best I can tell from ssh’ing into the system is that we were out of space - it showed 100% disk usage, but I wasn’t sure why. I was able to locate about 5GB of dump files that I assumed I could delete without causing troubles, and it looks like that worked. But I think that’s a temporary fix, because it looks like we’re still at 97% usage:
I’m going to try updating everything to see if that flushes any additional files and frees up any space. But if that isn’t successful then I’m going to be seeking further advice.
Thanks for all the help.
Ok, I think we have some more breathing room. I went back and found this old post:
and it turns out that, for reasons I don’t understand, something prompted the creation of a 44GB backup file today. That was the only backup file in the directory, so it’s not like this is a regular occurrence. But I deleted that, and we’re now back to a stable situation:
I’m performing all of the many updates anyway, as it’s probably long overdue. But it looks like things should be ok for the forseeable future.
I do keep promising that I’ll post a financial update soon, and I need to do that, because I suspect we’re close to running through all of the cumulative donations. I just haven’t checked in forever.
Fyi—when I tried to like a post I got a 500 error.
Are we up?
I knew we shouldn’t have been so critical of Trump.
Nice work, spider!
So what was the issue? Had to move our servers off US soil?
Well, that was fun. Thanks everyone here and on SPE for the guidance.
We’re at roughly 84% disk usage and at some future date, I might investigate that more. But my work life right now is more complicated than a Dan Flashes shirt, so I’m going to leave things alone for the time being.
For posterity, the key things I needed to do were:
- rebuilding the app
- making sure docker was started
- making sure nginx was running
- making sure nothing was bound to port 80
- turn off the firewall I unintentionally created
Special thanks to @freddbird, whose post here was the final push that seemed to get things right.
(I don’t really understand what all of these mean exactly, but some of these threads were enough to get me clicking the right buttons:
Well the good news is you can quit your job and get one of those 7 figure silicon valley tech jobs now that you are a full-fledged wizard.
