Great songs ruined by overplay

Topic speaks for itself. What are some great songs that were ruined by being played everywhere for far too long.

I caught Drops of Jupiter on Sirius the other day and that song is fantastic, but I remember wanting to cut my ears off a few months after it was released because it was everywhere.

What say you?

Every. Fucking. Oktoberfest.

Getting a “This video is not available” error. And based on the title, I don’t think I’ve ever heard that song before.

Does this work?

Yes. And can confirm that I don’t think I’ve ever heard that song in my life.

Not even on the Oktoberfest? :face_with_monocle:

I actually have this mind’s eye image of Von Internet living in a Bavarian castle. I sometimes wonder to myself if Von Internet knew the Red Baron in his formative years. Not mocking, you always have a cool and different take on things. I get it, European nobility ain’t easy.

Hotel California. Although, I can never get enough of the Gyspy Kings cover. Reminds me of Big Lebowski.

was able to last 10 seconds because I usually prefer concert versions of songs and yes, he has very talented musicians but that wah, wah wah wah always tilts the f*** out of me, My problem may be that I never liked the song in the first place, lol.

I’ll narrow it down to Crash Into me cuz I enjoyed the song the first 100 times I heard it,.

This is about great songs that are damaged by being overplayed, not songs that were shitty from listen #1 that only get worse every time you hear them.

I know I know, I was in an angry place. I will do better.

After I saw DMB play in Boston a few years ago, I remarked to my grown daughter that I was surprised to see almost no people of color there.

“Why does that surprise you, Dad?”

“It’s not like it’s Southern rock, and some of his song lyrics are pretty progressive. Also, at least half the band is Black.”

“Dad, it’s music for white people!”

LOL…when I was maybe 12 or so, my older brother came into my room and began looking through my vinyl albums, asking if I had Hotel California. I replied something to the effect of, “No, but it sucks, doesn’t it?”

It turns out he had already bought it for me for my birthday and was double-checking to see if I already had it. :grinning:
