GOP insanity containment thread 3: more human than strom thurman

Pornhub is already gone in Texas, Oklahoma and Utah. The remaining sites in these states are essentially operating illegally. Zero outcry.

It is easy to just get around it with a VPN? Seems like this should be a bigger story.

Yes it is easy to get around it with a vpn.

The law in these states requires the sites to have you upload your id and create an account to verify age. Pornhub said fu we aren’t doing that and you get a landing page explaining why you cant have pornhub anymore. As near as I can tell every other porn site on the planet is just operating illegally in these states.

I think you’ve nailed one of the big reasons why Trump typically runs ahead of down ballot Republicans and why Dems seem to be more successful in the Midterm years. The Republican party may have restrictive policies, but Trump doesn’t seem like the guy who wants to stop your fun. He’s the guy who bangs pornstars while libs sue him for not filing the correct papework for the hush money. He’s the guy who takes the private jet to the UFC and then crushes Big Macs while liberals are talking about the sacrifices that have to be made to limit climate change. He’s the guy that can chat about cocaine with Theo Von while Kamala needs a committee to decide if it’s ok to sit down with Rogan. He’s the guy who was telling everyone to open things up and get the economy going again while the libs were telling everyone to stay home during Covid.

Nailed it.

As always perception is more important than reality and I agree with you. I know a lot of people here disagree with me but Trump is a generational political talent on par with Obama. He knows exactly what his base want and feeds it to them non-stop.

The UFC thing is a good example. I was at a bar in OKC last Saturday night that happened to be showing the fights. Watching a huge percentage of the bar be super excited when Trump did his entrance walk to his seat honestly rattled me a bit. But it dawned on me Trumpers love Trump. And not just the crazy ones that wear the tacky hats and shirts. They love the antics. They love most of the things we make fun of and hate. They love how he triggers the libs like no one else and has beaten the RINOs into submission. No one loved Kamala. We liked her sure. But Trump has somehow navigated his way to a two term presidency. He wasn’t lucky. In fact you could argue he got unlucky with the pandemic happening in an election year. I would argue people love him now more than ever and the opposition he is facing is at an all time low.

I would say Trump got extremely lucky in 2016 going up against a historically unelectable opponent and barely winning while not getting the popular vote. In 2024 he clearly crushed it against a legitimate opponent. People hate immigrants and inflation, and they love the reality TV buffonery.

Did he crush this time around? It seems far from a landslide.

I guess it’s a close margin on the popular vote (+1.6%), so maybe not crushing it.

Right, which is why I extended into 2021.

Trump never met with Biden once from election night to inauguration day, right?

Trump’s superpower has always been shamelessness.

Right. However, the President shouldn’t be basing his actions on what Trump did.

Good point. He should definitely take photos in the rose garden with “an existential threat to US democracy”

Keep up the good work iron. Norms are surly about to save us all.

I honestly DGAF if Biden wants to keep up peaceful transition norms or not. It doesn’t matter. It’s probably the right move to cave on stuff like that as it’s all just pageantry and doesn’t matter in the end. Will it prevent further escalation of our partisan polarization? Probably not. But shunning Trump definitely won’t.

Guy of color on the bus raving that the Democratic party had zero straight men and made it their mission to sissify the men of the US. He’s a proud Trump supporter who declares the US is now a conservative country.

Sounds like a typical Fox viewer but with weaker impulse control.

The issue of what “masculinity” means to various people, and how that has impacted American politics, is something I intend to think about when I have the strength.

I am being told some sites are checking ids. Like x hamster.

It means being willing to “throw down” under certain circumstances. Reasonable men can disagree on when one should “throw down” but if you have never “thrown down” in your life then you are definitely a “sissy.”

Trump almost got shot in the head and responded by fist pumping “fight, fight, fight.” That shows “big balls.”

For the record, I used to “throw down” back in elementary school so not a complete sissy.

Just a couple of weeks ago I found out that the very first person with whom I ever threw down - in a Home Ec class in 7th grade - passed away.
