Would Republicans really bear the blame of a shutdown right now? Perhaps I’m naive, but I would think they could get some good mileage out of “the Harris administration shut down the government, leaving people without paychecks and seniors at risk of delayed SS payments, all because they want to register millions of illegals to vote”. They’d probably get some air cover from the lolmedia too. I’m surprised Johnson caved.

That’s not the real problem.
The problem was the parts where he said stuff like “We should bring back slavery and if we did, I’d own a few”.
I guess if he wasn’t in an open relationship, then there is an infidelity element, which I guess people might use to judge character. The rest, as you imply, is kink shaming. Clovis, I’m sure, is quite displeased.

One thing I’ve learned from this Robinson thing is how little attention is paid to stuff like Lt Gov and presumably anything down ballot of that. Seems like you can have a closet full of skeletons and still win on all but the highest levels.

I know it’s cool to say that hypocrisy doesn’t matter, but I still consider it a bad look to be privately bragging about adultery, anal sex, and getting off on porn starring trans folks while simultaneously publicly calling gay people slurs, opposing marriage equality, and supporting laws that would arrest trans people who used the “wrong” public restrooms.
