I’ll never understand companies that continue to render services like this, and leave a receivable of nearly $1M, when common sense will tell you they can’t/won’t pay. Just had a situation come up today at work where a company with some questionable past practices and financial situation wanted us to render services, and my response to the team was sure, if we get paid up-front. I guess $800K is a rounding error for DHL.

My formal, VERY large company did both an SAP implementation and promoted a finance guy to CEO who’s life motto was “net 90”.
Anyhoo, we bought a lot of pH and oxygen probes from a particular vendor. Not sure how much was SAP (think mostly) but got in arrears over $1M. Their staff was instructed to not fill any orders, even if our people were using procards. One colleague got told he couldn’t buy a probe with cash.
I left, but yeah it was a complete mess.
Of course My Pillow isn’t paying cause they don’t have the money.

Unfortunately, European stationary stores that sell to the US do. Their notifications are pure fiction and then your package shows up, last notification indicating it was 9 states away doing the other direction…
My impression has always been “stuff coming from Europe” so it fits.

I worked for a (profitable!) company that stretched payables so much BOTH of our ISPs got turned off on the same day. I flipped out at the CFO - pay for the internet, man. Kinda necessary.
