I’m kind of out of the loop living abroad and having been perma’d from Twitter, but I don’t get how Madison Cawthorn isn’t a way bigger story. Don’t get me wrong, I’m under no illusion that anyone in the GOP would do anything about him, but there seems to not be much, if any, follow-up media attention to his background. I half-joked about it before but all the sexual accusations came from just one single semester of college that he attended (ignoring everything else that is disgusting and fraudulent about him).
I mean, it’s kind of unnecessary given everything that is already out there about him, but surely this guy has attracted the interest of Ronan Farrow et Al

I think in the current environment, GOP sexual assaulter doesn’t rank high enough when compared to the insanity of somebody like MTG.

I see we now in the blame Joe Biden part of the pandemic.
The other side of Cawthorn falling to some extent under the radar is the fact that as a handsome, wheelchair-bound, youngest-congressman-ever he isn’t being spotlighted at every opportunity by Fox News and the gang as the conservative AOC. That itself speaks volumes.
I think it’s mostly nobody on the gop side gives a fuck if one of their own is a sexual harasser or assaulter so it makes it a bit of a none story. It’s just libs outraged but they won’t be held accountable so the story doesn’t have legs.
But like with Cuomo there are investigations, other dems calling them out etc. That’s a ton of follow up stories
The last GOP president was literally a serial child rapist and it didn’t seem to matter. Getting women in your car and then weirding them out is obviously awful but doesn’t really come close imo.
Line level GOP Congress people are really going to have to step up their crazy game if they expect to get any coverage. The crazies at the top of the pile have really thrown down the gauntlet.
