I mean, I don’t expect there to be any shortage of garbage human beings to replace the current crop of GOP politicians once they croak or anything, it’s about the voters. And no that shift is nowhere near as dramatic as we had hoped, but it still exists. I’m about as WAAF as anyone on here and I still think the voting population gets like 1-2% less deplorable every cycle.

Your analogy makes more sense if the Rs are the guy doing the pummeling, democracy is the one getting pummeled, and the ref is standing there reading the rule book to the Rs saying “You’re actually now allowed to beat that guy to death, it says so right here on page 73! This is very serious!”
