If in 2020 Ilhan Omar had made a bunch of threatening posts toward Jim Jordan on Twitter and started brandishing a firearm in Congress, Mitch would have immediately had the Sergent at Arms hulk out and toss her through a window. The Dems are completely in charge of this situation but they’re still living with perpetual Stockholm Syndrome so they respond by moving Cori Bush’s office down the hall and threatening to fine members who waltz past the metal detectors (who’s going to even collect that fine, Nancy?) and generally letting the bullies do whatever they want, Republicans are complete fools if they don’t continue to escalate the bullying. Every one of them should show up with a rifle.

Yes, I don’t see Ilhan Omar getting remotely the same treatment. Does anyone here know what can actually be done? Is Nancy powerless except to issue fines? Seems incredibly dangerous.
Issue is … What can we do. The only weapons we have are
- Withholding our votes from these D’s in the general which means the Rs win.
- Primary these D’s and replace with candidates that are more competent.
Fact is we are afraid of 1 (why, eventually everything will get f***ed anyway but we can prolong it for a few more years)

On what charge? I’m guessing circumventing the metal detector is a chargeable offense? And if so what the hell is she waiting for? MTG seems to be mentally ill. It may be virtually indistinguishable from Republican zealotry, but she displays behavior/actions and thought processes that are decidedly abnormal. She is dangerous.

Mobilize a leftist army to harass bad Dems and their families in all walks of life until they quit out of fear or frustration.
Think outside the box and look at non-electoral solutions.
Maybe not as crude and direct but along similar lines. There has to be a tangible downside for edems to keep edemming.
A primary challenge when possible is the most direct way.
Maybe it the R they are likely up against is only as bad as romney, collins etc … Run a 3rd party candidate and cause the D to lose.
Donor base – can’t do much about the corporates though maybe we should start shaming the professional D base into feeling that supporting edems is bad. For this we will need credible BIPOC messengers. cSWM trying to do this will be minimized as Bernie/rogan bros and dismissed.

One thing that happened in the election cycle was Donnie Dumb Dumb’s favorability rating went down after the first debate because 99% of people pay no attention to politics and when some of them checked in for debate highlights they were like “holy shit he’s completely nuts”. And Donnie Dumb Dumb was markedly less nuts than Greene. Add in America’s unwavering commitment to misogyny, and getting her lunacy in the public eye is probably a net win. The people that support her are already fully on board. The people that will have a “holy shit” moment if they see her are the people that stopped paying attention after inauguration because they assume that electing Biden fixed everything.

Disagree. If you’re talking about a Republican primary, then yeah, being perceived as deplorable is better. But in a general election, being perceived as moderate is better, all other things equal. The right made hay of the “radical socialist” label. They convinced voters in Florida that Biden = AOC and Dems were gonna make America into Venezuela. It was highly effective. That’s why tying the GOP to Greene and explicitly calling them a violent fascist party is good. It also has the advantage of being fundamentally true.

It’s not fair, but it is a fact that the majority of Americans are preconditioned to accept narratives about Crazy Ladies. One big advantage Donnie Dumb Dumb had was that people were preconditioned to narratives about him being a Successful Businessman, and shaking people off that preconception is maddeningly difficult.
