what this guy said
This could go in the delete Facebook thread or itt. This false equivalency of the year candidate must be making the rounds through magazine.
They donāt want to charge republicans. For anything. Ever.
They want bigger houses because superficiality is what they find fulfilling.
You are actually using a graph with 2014 data. Since then, Americans have increased their preference for bigger houses.
That is profoundly depressing.
Iāll be interested to see that chart again in a few years. 2020 and 2021 provided people with a lot of reasons (mainly Covid and the associated knock on impacts) to want to leave big cities and prefer more space further away from people. Is that a permanent preference shift or will that change as some of the Covid memories fade and more of the cool stuff about cities comes back (assuming it does)?
I have mixed feelings on that. It can be really hard to live in a walkable community with someone with disabilities. And while New Yorkers love their gas station level store bodegas, it can be a huge pain in the ass to get groceries even in walkable cities. My wife really struggled sometimes when we lived in Chicago.
Personally for my point of view only I prefer either extreme and not the middleā¦ but ofc I live in the middle lol
The disabilities thing cuts both ways. My high rise condo in Atlanta has multiple residents with disabilities that prevent driving. The ability to have a train station across the street and groceries two blocks away in a completely ADA environment is a godsend for those people.
With work at home, increasing dominance of social media and grocery/Amazon delivery, any trend toward less density is only going to accelerate.

It used to be a privileged motion for any member of the House to file a motion to vacate against the Speaker. This was notably used by Mark Meadows against John Boehner, except he was somehow able to file a non-privileged motion, perhaps a warning shot that contributed to Boehnerās eventual resignation.
After winning the 2018 mid-terms, Democrats changed the rule so that it would require the majority of a party conference or caucus to offer up a privileged motion to declare the Speakership vacant. The Freedom Caucus knuckleheads have been itching to change the rule back, or at least lower the threshold to five.
Basically, the Freedom Caucus seems to want the ability to torpedo any Republican Speaker, so they can use political blackmail to get their way.
The debt ceiling is going to be a complete disaster and Democrats are both idiots and irresponsible for not fixing it with their trifecta
I think there were enough hard nos in the Democratic caucus who couldnāt be cajoled, bribed, or threatened into changing their vote so that it was impossible to permanently repeal the debt ceiling.
Didnāt really know much about her, but boy do I hope I get to enjoy watching her fail and be shunned, even if itās by DeSantisites.
Sheās much more likely to be DeSantisā running mate imo.
so this speaker dramaā¦ some of the ultramaga holdouts want this option to make a motion to vacate, which means they could theoretically yank the speaker in the middle of the term, right? Whatās to stop mccarthy from telling them heāll allow this, getting elected, then telling them to go fuck themselves? They canāt vote on the rule change before the speaker is elected, right?
also someone mentioned if they do make this change, only GOP reps would be able to invoke it??? That canāt be right.
