I’ll start with Barry Lyndon (1975)
Rear Window (1954)
Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Downfall (2004) [not counting seeing the Hitler meme 2000 times]
Some standard replies…but
Schindler’s List
United 93
Requiem for a Dream
Sophie’s Choice
I rewatch Schindler’s List whenever it’s on, I know “if it’s on” isn’t really a thing anymore with streaming but old habits die hard
The Pianist
Just like Schindler’s List which I have seen three times the movie is just such an emotional gut punch. I always think about rewatching it but just can’t bring myself to do it.
The Pianist is great, three or four watches for me although not recently. I don’t remember it being more gutting than Schindler’s List, after he escapes the ghetto it becomes essentially a survival story and the emotional notes are lonelier and subtler
A ton. First one that comes to mind is 12 Angry Men, which I only just saw this summer.
Dear Zachary
I watch this at least once a year. Its a cinematic masterpiece.
The Last Emperor
Ghandi
The Manchurian Candidate (original)
The Great Dictator
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
The Sunshine Boys
The Shape of Water
Straight Outta Compton
Vertigo
Definitely a one timer
Trainspotting and 127 Hours. Actually a lot of Boyle’s stuff I can only handle once.
Primer. Always meant to re-watch it, but never got around. One of the canonical Actually Good time travel movies.
12 Angry Men
Schindler’s List
Once Were Warriors
Mississippi Burning
The Accused
No Country for Old Men
The Silence of the Lambs
Monster
A slight theme happening here.
