Who would ever eat a cold ham and cheese. I default to grilled and although i love grilled cheese i prefer the addition of ham

If you can imagine that ham and cheese includes variations like the grilled version, seems reasonable to imagine that grilled cheese includes variations like grilled cheese with bacon, short rib, or pulled pork.
Also lol turkey club.

Why not just throw in grilled cheese with hamburger patty and onions.
I’m sure there are exceptions, but once you start adding proteins, it’s generally a different sandwich.
I could understand possible confusion about how to account for different cooking methods, but there is a picture right on the poll to help with that.

Man I’m here in Chicago on the lake. It’s a gorgeous sunny fall day, I’m watching my son race in some kind of regatta, and I’m arguing about sandwiches. Gotta reassess my life choices.

I’d accept this if it were some ham and cheese slappy posting pics to drum up support. But if the guy running the contest and makes the rules says it counts, then it counts. And there is a photo to make that clear.

Since I’m in Chicago, I’m advocating for an Italian beef sandwich (RIP) from Portillo’s but I think the regular regatta people that we’re here with are insisting on deep dish pizza.

Couldn’t you make the same argument for lots of sandwiches? Like a breakfast sandwich is just a fancier grilled cheese? How much fancier does something need to be before it’s a new species of sandwich?
As is a Jambon Beurre.
And I never said breakfast sandwich couldn’t be ham.
So that’s like a half dozen ham sandwiches in the competition.
