Catching up on this thread is always a pleasure for me, I like to wait and do so when I need a pick me up. The first :30 or so of this video is awesome stuff that dovetails with what I’m often discussing regarding leadership and messaging versus poll-based political strategy. The part from 2:05 to 2:25 or so should give you chills if you have a soul. And it’s a preview of a future keynote speech or a presidential stump speech in 2028, most likely.

I love her, she’s the GOAT right now in the House, but she’s not a generational political talent. Which should actually encourage us. Look what a boss she is, and it’s not cause she’s a generational talent, it’s because she has a good heart, gives zero fucks about anything other than doing the right thing, and speaks her mind. That’s it.

You are in no way wrong about that timeline or how she ended up where she is now, but she still had to make a decision at some point to do it. That’s a decision the vast majority of 29 year olds in her spot do not make, and we are all better off because she took the leap.

How untrue this is is demonstrated by the literally hundreds of other people with those traits who have run against establishment candidates and lost. Also see her absolute dominance on the floor of Congress in both questioning and writing legislation… and the fact that she’s good enough at social media to be the SVP of Social Media at virtually any major brand (and I’m talking brands that spend 1B+ a quarter on advertising like Coke).
I get wanting to believe that there are dozens more just like her in the hopper, but that’s really obviously not the case when you dig down past the surface level. The DSA ran a lot of candidates in the 2018 primaries and AOC was easily the best one and it wasn’t remotely close.
Not saying there won’t be other super talented politicians in the Millenial/ Gen Z crowd because obviously there will be… but AOC is also clearly the first really big one. Given the experience of the 60’s-70’s I very desperately hope her security detail is serious business.
