"Get used to me slaying": The Journal of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez—Drink water and don't be racist

AOC is most closely aligned with Bernie, why is that a surprise?

She endorsed Bernie? She’s been positive to both.

Meh, jimmies not rustled. A little surprised, since I assumed everyone would wait for the dust to settle before endorsing, but if anyone’s going to endorse early, AOC for Tio Bernie makes sense.

AOC gonna go Bernie > Warren >>>>>> all the other hopeless corporate centrists. Pretty obv, no…?!

And US media gonna obv do the US media thing and pretend there’s battles wherever they can get clicks.

Glad she did this. It is indeed do or die time for Bernie. Bern is a way better progressive than Warren too. Don’t get me wrong, Warren is a miles better candidate than HRC was.

Didn’t you get the memo? HRC is irrelevant.

… unless you’re a Republican talking head, obv.

Good play I reckon. Keep Bernie pushing to mover the Overton.

As long as she lines up behind Warren later on if a split progressive vote is threatening a Biden win…

I’m sure they both would if necessary. I’m just glad she endorsed someone at this point.

I’m not sure if AOC’s endorsement would’ve helped Warren at this point anyway. Six months ago the belief was that one of them would need to consolidate the progressive vote then hopefully that would be enough to make a run at whoever consolidated the establishment vote. Warren’s been pulling broad support though and Bernie is most likely not a threat even with AOC’s endorsement. If Warren had received AOC’s endorsement it would’ve hastened the end to Bernie’s campaign but that’s likely to happen before too many votes are cast anyways. I’m also not confident that AOC’s image among the uninformed wouldn’t scare off some voters who have gone to Warren’s camp because she has good ideas but has positioned herself as the more reasonable choice vs Bernie.

Despite being progressive, Liz’s base is actually older and wealthier people who are afraid of (or dismissive of) AOC. This doesn’t hurt her. It might help her.

Disagree, this locks things up for Bernie. Liz should drop out so she doesn’t hurt him against Biden.

Doubt that AOC endorsing Bernie is going to make that much of a difference overall except it keeps Bernie’s campaign alive for longer (which he will benefit from if Warren implodes for any reason). If she had endorsed Warrren though, I think that would have killed off Bernie’s chances pretty much straight away.

I think AOC endorsing Bernie this early is absolutely a good thing if it drives even some minor support towards him. If he ends up carrying on to the nomination, great; if he eventually drops out, I suspect AOC will rally behind Warren anyways. Either way, this is a good thing. No jimmies rustled here.

The endorsement is fairly logical and in hindsight could/should have been seen coming from a mile away.

AOC identifies as Democratic Socialist
Bernie identifies as Democratic Socialist
Warren doesn’t

I still suspected she waits for one of them to drop out before endorsing the other. I should have given her more credit for doing what she thinks is right and instead of doing political calculations.

This is the right take. No bitterness towards AOC here.

Not really dumb. She’s very trustworthy imo and I think knows him pretty well. At least the endorsement I think means he’s not a different person when the cameras aren’t on.

It gives me more respect for AOC as well.

Remember Warren could of done this is 2016.
