How has Ilhan been unintelligent or unethical?
I live in Ilhan’s district. Her personal life is weird. She’s been married 4 times, her most recent 3 months after her last divorce. She’s done potential unethical campaign finance things. She keeps putting her foot in her mouth re: Israel, 9/11, etc. Worst, she seems completely unprepared for people to attack her on things she should very much be ready for.
She’s not the best.

I find it refreshing to hear someone talking about the outsized influenced that the Israel lobby has on our politics
I also liked when she took that war criminal Eliot Abrams to task
She and a lot of people have this backwards. Israel didn’t turn the USA into a right-wing nightmare. Israel suits the US’s purposes. The US, largely, agrees with what the rwnj’s in Israel want. That’s why a lobby that actually spends relatively little money appears to have a lot of influence, not just because of the awful threat of powerful Jews.
To clarify, she has actually been fined for campaign finance violations. She and her current husband divorced their spouses after being accused of having an affair and they married a few months later.
There have been questions raised about the money paid to her husband’s consulting firm, but it looks like the work that is being paid for is being done and the financial relationship pre-dated the romantic one. His ex has questioned whether some of the money spent on travel was a cover for the lovers to be together. Of course, that accusation was part of a custody battle.
So not the best, but certainly better than the average congresscritter
Why can’t she get married and divorced as many times as she wants? Lots of powerful men cycle through spouses and affairs with younger women and everyone just kind of shrugs.
