Fun (and sometimes inexpensive) technology to blow your mind and improve your life

What are the gadgets, apps, services, etc that everyone should know about?

What emerging technology or service promises to revolutionize our experience of something?

This is where we point to the future or point out that the technology of our dreams already exists.

Boring Company president Steve Davis said that no public money is going to be used to finance the project.

Instead, the company will cover the cost of the main tunnels, and the casinos are going to pay for the stations and tunnels that extend from the main tunnels.

While the approval by the city council was an important step, there are still more approvals needed in the coming months as the company submits more detailed plans.

However, it is starting to look likely that Las Vegas is going to be the first city to get a full-scale Loop.

And good news for Texas:

We recently learned that the Boring Company is also going to Austin and recently took over a large industrial space.

This is less tech than good advice that I assume is not some big prank on the level of Fight Club telling us to use old motor oil to fertilize our lawns.

Theory of muon catalyzed fusion dates to before the 50s. It was experimentally observed not long after. That much is not remotely controversial. I guess the 2D aspect here is interesting because cold fusion as observed by Pons and Fleischmann is a surface phenomenon.

Progress towards ā€˜cold fusion,ā€™ where nuclear fusion can occur at close to room temperatures, has now been at a standstill for decades. However, an increasing number of studies are now proposing that the reaction could be triggered more easily through a mechanism involving muons ā€“

I donā€™t think there will be significant progress towards understanding cold fusion any time soon. At least, I donā€™t think Iā€™ll see it.

Edit: Meant to reply to thread, not that specific post.

#2 should work. So will a belt. Also works for delicate fixtures. Itā€™s a strap wrench.

#25 good luck with that.

I have used Photopea many times and can confirm it is far more intuitive and easy to pick up than Photoshop or Gimp. You can spend thirty minutes on Photopea and quickly be shopping stuff you never imagined within your reach.

Iā€™m not doing #25 for fun. Just good to have an option if Iā€™m stranded on an island and desperate for fire. I accept all smarter alternatives.

-1 heart for this if I could, just a horrible waste of money that could be better directed toward public transit. Makes me angry every time I read about it.

What an unexpected contribution! I appreciate this feedback. Just as curious in criticism of presented technology itt.

Poker dealers know all about superglue for cuts. You canā€™t really use a band aid on your fingers because it makes it impossible to deal. Superglue holds the cut together and acts as a sort of ā€œliquid bandageā€.

I bet thereā€™s a tube laying around your local poker room somewhere.

Itā€™s fucking sad that they have to explain this.

Since this is a tip thread, in case anyone doesnā€™t know, you can save your brakes by moving from D to 2 or 1 when going down hills, too. Engine braking ftw.

I had to do all those steps except the final one, and finally came to rest a few feet from the car at the back of a long queue, after a brake failure at 50mph.

I donā€™t know how engine braking works - does this cause wear/stress on the engine? I always assumed Iā€™d rather put that stress on brake pads I replace every few years rather than the engine, but I am basing that on zero mechanical knowledge.
