@Yuv is up
Yeah, thatās always been my take. KG is the best #2 and also the best PF OAT (other than LeBron/Durant who historically would be looked at as SFs).
Again, I have an affinity for defense. KG was probably going to be my pick (didnāt think heād last tho).
Good thing you donāt have a NO KEVINS CLUB.
I had KG as number 5 on my board. Other than not playing for Pop so he didnāt get to rack up the rings, donāt really see his career being that much different than Duncanās.
KG is slight where Duncan is a legit 5.
Otherwise, yes. Largely a victim of circumstance, no different from Brady and Rodgers or countless other examples in team sports.
Itās a moral dilemma at this point. Iāll take the night to think it over.
I would 100% play KG as a center and that was my plan if he reached me in 2nd rnd
You pretty much have to now. Thatās what he was at the end.
I just keep thinking about Shaq against like KG and if Dirk is at the 5. Heās such a monster.
sorry all. saw i was up yesterday around noon and then got distracted with a few things for work and never got around to picking. Iāll sit this out and just watch since were in the middle of rd. 2 now
I vote you can make a pick and then be slotted back into your usual spot, if youāre still interested, so that weāll have a nice round 10 teams.
Iām fine with that as well.
Yeah, standard is if you miss your pick you just make it up as soon as you can and then wait for your next scheduled slot.
KG and KD is ridiculous.
Ok Iāll take Dirkās 2003/2004 until 2007/2008 seasons
He was amazing the whole time but his three seasons in the middle there, 4/5, 5/6, 6/7, are a whole other level, so Iām lining those up with Jordanās three-peat.
He led the league in WS/48 all 3 of those years (and in WS 2 of them), won the MVP in 06/07 and got 3rd in MVP the other 2 seasons. Was also 13th in Defensive Rating in 04/05 and was Player of the Month twice that year.
Of course he was first team All-NBA all 3 years.
He also led the Playoffs WS/48 twice in these years, BPM once, VORP once and Total Rebounds and Free Throws once as well.
Yeah, please pick if youāre still willing @bode.
I reinserted your team into the ss. If youāre busy or whatever itās no biggie but you havenāt missed anything really, thereās a lot of value on the board.
So Iāve given it too much thought.
I will keep ignoring the elephant in the green room for a couple of reasons. I donāt want him and it will keep an expected first round pick if @bode wants to join now.
Luka is an offensive genius that keeps improving. He is, however, a bad defender. A smart bad defender, but a bad defender nonetheless. I knew i had to pick a defensive beast here who can switch on to anything. Luka also has the ball in his hands more than just about anyone in history. I donāt really need for that to change much, thatās why I picked him.
So with all that in mind, I needed a second fiddle. A wingman if you like. How about the most famous one in recent history?
He who would fit easily into modern basketball and is instantly a DPOY threat. During the 5 year stretch from 94-95 he was FIVE team first NBA all-defensive team. Two all-nba first team selections, one 2nd and one 3rd.
Sure, he wasnāt the best 3 point shooter, but he wasnāt terrible or gun-shy either. He can fit multiple lineup constructions and I donāt have to worry about usage as much as I would with most 2nd round pick.
And he dunked all over Ewingās face.
Ugh; I thought I could take Scottie in the third round.
Although it would seem that Scottieās creation and passing are redundant on a team with Luka, I actually think multiple top-level creators will be a requirement for success in this league. There will be too many top-flight defenders that can slow down #1 options.
In 1994, Pippen assumed the lead dog role and upped his scoring and creation with essentially no loss in efficiency. Given the makeup of Chicagoās roster and its implementation of the triangle, this was probably Pippenās maximum offensive output, as he peaked in offensive load at 43 (96th percentile) while the Bulls posted a respectable +2.2 rORtg when healthy, better than any offense Michael Jordan led before Phil Jackson arrived.
Including the postseason, Chicago played 71 games that year with Grant, Kukoc and Pippen in the lineup. In 10 short games without Pippen, the offense posted a -2.6 rORtg.
Plus, he gets that creation from good size. Heās setup to have the luxury of drafting some undersized scoring dynamo, if he wanted.
ROFLCOPTER
great picks and discussion so far guise!
