That wasn’t a qualitative assessment of any of the candidates. Supposedly the whole point of ranked choice voting is that the person who doesn’t finish first might still win. That may sound good on paper, but I don’t know if we really though through what that means if it actually happens. A quarter million people voted for Adams - surely they wouldn’t be happy about this and not without some justification. Not a good look to have the NYTimes Manhattan favored candidate come out from third place is all I am saying here.
It’s not like NYC is the first place to try this.

the biggest problem is there is something weird with the new update vs the prior one in the data so we’re all confused some lower candidates gained more votes than even adams did when they added the rest of the non counted election day ones in. (could just be an error in the first data set of course or they simply dgaf to bother with those votes at first, who knows with NYC)

Voters are dumb, which is why I support a ranked choice jungle primary that creates a short-list of four candidates, followed by a four-way ranked choice general election. I don’t think a lot of people can handle more than a three- or four-way election. They have problems with multi-way sports tiebreakers that aren’t head-to-head.

That said for a liberal state NY voting laws are fucking horrific. I get that when its a one party state shitlibs usually take hold but CA voting rules are pretty solid :|
