I think Flock and this issue deserve their own thread. To start it off, here’s a site that tracks the locations of these things.

TIL I drive by like 12 license plate scanners every day when I drop my son off with his grandparents.

lol, they’re at literally every Home Depot around me, and almost every Fred Meyer. That makes some shopping decisions easier.

Something I learned is that they already acknowledge they do more than read license plates - they can identify makes/models/years of cars.

It seems incredibly unlikely to me they won’t incorporate facial recognition if they aren’t already doing it.

Oh, and some local jurisdictions and states have laws against sharing this data with the feds. Surprise, they just do it anyway.

They can’t scan your plate if you don’t have a car
