TIL I drive by like 12 license plate scanners every day when I drop my son off with his grandparents.
lol, they’re at literally every Home Depot around me, and almost every Fred Meyer. That makes some shopping decisions easier.

Something I learned is that they already acknowledge they do more than read license plates - they can identify makes/models/years of cars.
It seems incredibly unlikely to me they won’t incorporate facial recognition if they aren’t already doing it.
Oh, and some local jurisdictions and states have laws against sharing this data with the feds. Surprise, they just do it anyway.
They can’t scan your plate if you don’t have a car

I downloaded the app and tried the navigation because I don’t like being clocked every time I drive by one of these things. I walked to one last night and it was mounted low enough that I could cover it with a plastic bag with minimal effort. I read somewhere that it takes them a while to get them uncovered.

I am stunned that Lake County, FL deactivated theirs
Los Angeles is canceling / not renewing its Flock contract.
I know one “conservative” person and he’s alarmed by Flock. Like data centers, concern over the surveillance state cuts across ideologies to some degree at least.

i’m gonna set odds at 55/45 that at some point in my life, i destroy at least 1 of these.
i won’t post about it either way, but ill know that i’m awesome 
biggest issue might be stopping after the first one…
edit: odds would have been 85/15 when i was drinking, odds that i get caught also much higher though.
i’ve been playing with the interactive map for a while now, there are several near me but all in pretty poor target areas. there are 2 going in and out of parks like 15 mins away, i bet those could be doable with some scouting/planning.
here’s where i am now, dfw airport. i’m sure they need to read license plates in all of the terminals
