Worked at a Carvel as a teenager. What a great job. No cooking really, so it was easy to keep the place pretty clean. All the customers are happy as hell to be getting ice cream. I could steal a free sundae now and then. Loved it.
I was just talking to an upper-middle class patient in Virginia who said that she’s heard from friends that their teenage kids are having a difficult time finding summer jobs.
MCD is two tier pricing with their apps. surprised there is no tik tok on that.
Yeah I should probably get more apps. I just hate having apps/cards for things. I’ll just enter my parents’ phone number if there’s something on sale at Duane Reade (aka Walgreen’s)
I ate lunch at California Pizza kitchen yesterday, had half spaghetti half salad combo and fresh bread. Drank water. The total was under $15 with tip.
Cheaper than any fast food I’ve had in a while (though normally get a $4 coffee drink at McD).
I’m never spending $15 at McD or any other FF spot.
Never worked any kind of restaurant/food job. My first job was working warehouse/stocking at a local landscaping/flower type place. Then i did some city public works jobs those were the best.
You can do it buying 2 sandwiches these days.
Once upon a time, $20 at Popeye’s was easy. But it’s 2 meals and a snack.
I very seldom get FF now, so if I hit BK, I’m in $20 for 2 large sandwiches.

The nice thing for me is that while I enjoy food, I’m not that big of an eater. A burrito bowl from Chipotle is at least 2 meals for me. So while ff can seem expensive, it’s really not that bad if you’re getting 2+ meals out of it. Can’t do that with McDs obviously

Chipotle portions are big, it’s just not much meat. You can ask for extra of all the carbs (rice/beans/etc). I just don’t personally find it to be very good.

When I was in high school/college they had a deal where you could pick 5 items from a pool of menu items not just the plain sandwiches. Maybe that was a little more than $5 though?
