haha, the USNA and USMA…limited prospects…hahah…lol
um…no.
Service academies are some of the toughest to get into in the country, exacerbated by the fact that you have to be nominated by a member of congress. Poor, maybe. limited prospects? no way. Anyone who can get into a service academy can get multiple merit-based scholarships probably anywhere they want.
People who go there have to really want to go there. They’re fucking crazy.
Source: am USAFA grad. Yes, I was fucking crazy. No, I would not choose it again if I had a time machine. I also had a full 4-yr ROTC scholarship and admissions to several backup schools. Not going to one of them is probably my biggest/only regret in life.
My car is 11 years old, don’t CD-shame me. Probably going to upgrade to a new model next year, which will make it the 2nd car I’ve ever bought. Yes, I’m a massive cheapskate.
shit, I still have a car with a tape deck and no CD player. however, they make bluetooth adapters for everything now, so I got one so i can stream from my phone.
It’s not your Tesla and it’s not your 1930-whatever car. So you’ve got one with a tape player, one with a hand crank phonograph, and one that gets music beamed in on tachyons. Any with an 8 track?
nope. 2003 Jetta TDI wagon (that was pre-VW diesel redesign, so not subject to recall and still getting 40 mpg). Got that for $1 from my parents, heh.
We actually have 3 vehicles we use that tape adapter in. Also our 2000 Ford diesel van when it’s not parked for insurance reasons (we really need to sell this, but hubby refuses to give it up), and our 2001 Class C RV. Alas, no 8-track player on any of our vehicles. Earpods are a godsend on the motorcycles, though.
The Tesla is likely to be the only vehicle we ever buy new. It’s nice to be married to someone who can do the MX on our cars himself (for the most part)
I am now somewhat disgusted by our vehicle lineup. All of them have reasons, but still…
Tesla Model 3
2003 Jetta TDI wagon
2001 Class C RV (former cruise america rental)
2000 Ford Econoline diesel van
1931 Pierce Arrow Coupe
2001 Suzuki SV-650 (mine)
1989 Honda VFR (his)
a couple of dirt bikes.
probably enough motorcycle parts to build a complete frankenstein bike
This is what you get when you marry a gear head motorcycle racer and decide to not have kids.
New Year’s resolution: convince my husband to sell one vehicle. It was going to be to get solar, but SDGE gave us an $800 EV credit and that’s over half our entire electric bill for the year so now I’m not sure it’s worth it right now.
