Yes, there are some fusion albums that can go both ways, but not all Jazz albums fall under those categories. And it is going to be extremely rare that a Jazz-X hybrid album is going to be top 500 in whatever category X is. So much so that if you only ranked them in the top 500 Jazz albums you wouldn’t be very wrong. Just because someone influences a genre doesn’t mean their work should be ranked in that genre.

Yeah, I can’t believe RCI didn’t cancel that excursion. Cruise lines always err on the side of caution in situations like that. Passengers, of course, get pissed that the crew and the cruise line don’t want them to die.

TV criticism has fallen so far, so fast. Todd VanDerWerff had some good takes when he was still at the AV Club, but that was years ago. Nobody is watching this show; HBO are having to talk about black-boxed streaming figures to unskew the ratings. It’s catnip to the pundit class because it’s got an unusually high number of black characters and a fair amount of ham-fisted racial ‘commentary’ etc - which I can’t go in to more detail about without spoiling it, for want of a better word.
I’ll be surprised if it’s renewed and very surprised if people even remember it was a thing two years from now.

I kind of was into the show when I thought it would be snarky Laurie taking down the masked, out-of-control cops. But the show, uh, went in another direction. I cannot overstate how little I care about Angela and Dr. Manhattan’s “relationship”.
IKR? They basically fall in love off-screen and we’re just meant to care. No dice, Lindelof.
