You should know better than this, being such a huge movie buff. Prior to 1931, there was no censorship in the movie industry. You can see a marked difference in tone prior to that with a lot of movies. Once the Breen office/production code came in, you couldn’t even make your movie without getting the script past them (people crossed all kinds of subtle lines in the scripts to see if they could get away with things). One of their biggest issues was that they said ‘crime can’t pay’. This made every crime movie end with the criminal dying.
By the 1960s, numerous directors were flaunting and pushing the code to see what would happen. Because of lines being crossed by people like Peckinpah they decided it would be better to have a ratings system over approved/not approved. Regardless of what you think, the ratings system is a form of self policing to try to keep the government out. You really wouldn’t like a government sanctioned ratings system. The problem is that there are always going to be bad actors in the industry who want to push the line to try to get X-rated content into R-rated movies. It’s very easy to get around that stuff, but they really want to see if they can get away with it.
I’ll give you a little anecdotal perspective. Gratuitous violence is a major turn off to me, which means I haven’t seen a lot of movies that I should have (It’s also a big reason why I ended up in TV, which is now easily as violent as old R-rated movies and maybe even today’s R-rated movies in those types of shows). I remember in my early 20s saying to my mom and sister that I was very put off by the level of violence in movies, and how even PG-13 movies could be filled with the amount of violence they had. I said to both that I would much rather see a boob than see someone get their brains blown out on film. Both felt exactly the opposite.
This is a whole other weird thing I’m not sure what to think about. The idea seems sound at first, we are forever putting female bodies on display, let’s level the playing field with some penis. I can’t help but think it misunderstands female sexuality. I’m guessing most women would say what is needed is more stories from a female perspective, not more penis.
And yet who pays to see movies? The audience does revolt, and a lot of this was in direct response to the audiences revolting when movies went too far for their tastes. They wanted to know what they were walking into so they didn’t end up seeing an experience like Freaks without knowing what they were getting in advance.
The code quite obviously went too far, and the ratings system today is actually super lax (Midnight Cowboy is like a Pixar movie in comparison to The Deuce, a TV show, which is why it was re-rated from the laughable X in 1969). I don’t know why you assume that puritans are the ones behind this. The assumption of the audience was that if it got past the code it was ready for almost all audiences. By the 1960s that had obviously changed a lot, and meant that something needed to be put in to avoid going right back to pre-1931. The code had to be abandoned, and you sure as hell didn’t want censorship (that’s what the ratings system keeps from happening unlike all the censorship that happens all over the world).
Again, every single filmmaker is more than welcome to make any movie they want today, but if it gets slapped with an X it’s DOA. And since most filmmakers aren’t paying for their movies themselves, they’re going to chop 15 frames out here or there to appease the board, since every single one of these instances in a movie have no relevance to plot whatsoever.
“Name a time when conservatives have disrupted even the furthest leftist on a college campus,” he said to the crowd. “It doesn’t happen that way. We’re willing to listen.”
A member of the audience interrupted with a shout: “Then open the Q&A!”
“See what I mean?” Trump Jr. answered. “And that is the problem. And the reason oftentimes it doesn’t make sense to do the Q&A is not because we’re not willing to talk about the questions, 'cause we do. No. It’s because people hijack it with nonsense looking to go for some sort of sound bite. You have people spreading nonsense, spreading hate, trying to take over the room.”
Damn that intolerant left. Oh wait.
Fuentes, 21, appeared to take credit for the protests on Sunday evening, tweeting that he and his followers don’t disagree with Trump Jr. Instead, he said their complaint was with Turning Point USA. On Sunday, he shared dozens of tweets celebrating the event’s shutdown and denigrating Turning Point USA.
“Our problem is not with @DonaldJTrumpJr who is a patriot — We are supporters of his father!” he tweeted. “Our problem is with Charlie Kirk’s TPUSA organization that SHUTS DOWN and SMEARS socially conservative Christians and supporters of President Trump’s agenda. We are AMERICA FIRST!”
With all we know about the MeToo movement I’m expressly uncomfortable with basically any sex scenes on camera now. If I were running The Deuce, I wouldn’t have allowed Franco to direct any sex scenes, and I wouldn’t have allowed him to have any sex scenes or to appear in any scene with another actor who is naked based on what came out about him. I actually would have preferred to fire him from that show, because him being on a show like that is wildly inappropriate due to his background. To this day, I have no idea how he skated.
Read the Weinstein article I told you about. It might have been the one written by Salma Hayek, but it could have been a different one. He was trying to MeToo both Salma and Ashley Judd, and said he wouldn’t give Frida distribution or additional financing (can’t remember which) if they didn’t include a lesbian sex scene where both were naked. Hayek eventually acquiesced because she felt her film was too important to throw away.
At this particular time in Hollywood, we should be moving much further away from gratuitous sex scenes and not closer based on how bad things were with the MeToo scandal. In a show like Righteous Gemstones, I think they think showing dicks is funny (it’s not). In other shows, I don’t know. It’s kind of like a taboo, like how every basic cable TV show is trying to throw in the F word after FX broke that ceiling. It’s not like you couldn’t show dicks in movies, you just couldn’t show erect ones because then it’s a porno. So, there may not be any ulterior motive for showing more dicks, but I can’t imagine it makes the sets more comfortable seeing lots of gratuitous male and female nudity. And making sets more uncomfortable is certainly a way to show an aggression over something you’re not allowed to do anymore.
Tbh… I’d be looking to see if I could remove the Pitlock by removing and replacing another part of the Saddle mounts… Or contact the original owner for a key/password as I would not tackle it with tools on your own because it need to be secured firmly in place and possibly drilled with special steel drills as it’s all made of steel.
A local bike repair shop may take it off if you can prove proof of sale.
Using a power grinder is also possible but messy… And use gloves with a face mask if attempting
As keed says below we’d need to see your range of plyers and drill bits to recommend an option.
I’d take it to the local garage and tell them your EX refuses to give you the key/password because he/she’s smaller then you.
