That’s a no for me, dawg. I’ll just do heavy squats for free at the company gym.
Yea I’m still on the $35/mo golds gym plan and it gets the job done. Gf works and exercises at orange theory and it sounds like a legit good workout but no way the benefit/cost works out.
Squats and deadlifts all ya need brah.
Gold’s gym at 35 dollars is also a total steal, at least my location was.
My exact cost is like $37/mo, but that was locked in a few years ago and required minor negotiations (got them down to the price for “my location and the two closest locations”).
Wasn’t gonna pay extra money for all-golds-gym access considering I’ll never go to 99% of them.
FWIW I’m in a major metro area.
Socialist
I had a 35 dollar rate for years because the a local gym I went to closed down and they gave us discounts. Indoor track (kinda), racquetball, basketball, steam room and sauna, only down side was the preening juicers, but still amazing.
Fuck shame
suzzer self-outing as a connoisseur of esoteric gentleman’s wear is an unexpected boost for a Saturday morning.
Anyone use a weighted blanket or have a recommendation as to which one to get?
Second hand knowledge, but a co-worker has a Gravity Blanket and swears by it.

Might want to do some research on the science of weighted blankets. They have dubious support at this point. It’s not going to hurt but there are better solutions.
If the goal is stress release or reducing anxiety look into meditation/mindfulness. It has mountains of scientific support and works amazingly well.
Omg. What are you doing now? Van conversion business?
Interesting. Do you know any recent research on them? I haven’t read a ton but it seems like the little research on them suggests they don’t have strong effects unless their use coincides with psychotherapy.
I’ve almost bought one a few times.
Mindfulness seems to work for some people. I’ve never found it worth a damn myself, and reports of its scientific backing may be somewhat exaggerated.
You are correct. The state of research into mediation is hampered by many poorly designed studies and a too common mixing with pseudoscience and new age nonsense. The biggest meta study, conducted by my alma mater, found widespread but weak positive effects although it noted the generally poor research standards in many studies.
Some of the most recent research, with better design, does suggest positive effects.
I don’t know your personal experience, but I find many people expect instant results. It’s like attending the first day of Physics 101 and being frustrated you are not a physicist yet. It takes most people weeks to see positive results.
As for the blankets, I’ve been curious about weighted blankets for sometime. Maybe I’ll finally pull the trigger and get one.
In any case weighted blankets don’t require any sort of deep skepticism. It is not like a new drug that could cause serious harm and therefore needs rigorous testing. At worst the blankets are harmless. So if you think you might like it get one and see if you do.
