Fall LC thread

“Six days later, the justice minister, Katsuyuki Kawai, stepped down after a report that he had re-gifted potatoes to some constituents that he had received from a fellow politician. His wife, Anri Kawai, a candidate for Parliament, was also accused of paying double the legal limit of about $140 a day to staff members who travel in vans shouting campaign slogans.”

Pretty sure you have no idea what you are talking about.

Anyone get this GOAT halloween costume by some friends of mine? Oh yeah it’s from 2 years ago.

Lol maybe they paid that account to leave that review.

His uncle is a bad person for employing immigrants for 15 years and caring that they are going to get arrested and deported?

You have no idea what you are talking about and are an embarrassment to progressives.

Yeah, normally I think almost anyone who supports Trump is a terrible person. Like my dad is for sure. My uncle mostly seems like a good dude though. I don’t know much about his political views, but I’m pretty sure he’s a super low info voter. I mean he pretty much never posts anything political. But he helped my mom a lot when she was broke and struggling. His wife has also been really sick almost my entire life and he’s always been there and taken care of her and never did anything like cheat afaik. I’m talking like she can’t really leave the house, has trouble getting to the bathroom, and is constantly in the hospital sick.

And yeah the illegal immigrants are also making pretty good money from my understanding. Like I said they’re pretty high up in the company.

I talked to my dad about it and he said when he worked there my uncle and the CEO would help illegals get their papers if they worked for the company.

What was the industry? Construction? Hardly anyone gets health insurance. If he paid them the same as people born in the US, then he’s doing good. If he paid close to the same he’s still doing fine. Like other than the owners of the means of production exploiting labor in capitalism kind of thing.

But in terms of what people should be calling other people, “illegals” ain’t it.

We have discussed if it is necessary for people to have billions. This one lady on a Uk talk show handles a panel of people coming after her but she does a pretty decent job of responding to all of them.

In the same day you suggested Hitchens would be a trump supporter and that a guy hiring immigrants in leadership roles who cares about them being deported is a bad person simply because he owns the company.

You also used the term “illegals” over and over.

You are not doing well.

You have completely lost the plot. In your desire to hate “people in power” you claim to be supporter of “illegals” just not their right to get a job. The very fact that they are employed is somehow a power imbalance so it would be better if what? They weren’t hired?

His uncle is a trump supporter so should be subject to scrutiny but in this context all we knew was he has hired many immigrants, gave them leadership roles, and is worried about them losing their job and being deported.

My reaction is he seems like a decent person. Yours is he is obviously some kind of monster holding his employees in bondage.

A lot of illegal immigrants are treated like shit by their employers. Maybe not the case here but its not a huge assumption.

The Trump-supporting exploiter of vulnerable populations in furtherance of his own enrichment is - or may be assumed to be - a Lucro-American, one of the many people of wealth whose identity and proper role in society is under attack from this newly-unleashed bigotry on the left. PoW are increasingly marginalised in left discourse. It’s a very frightening time. Clovis is simply being a good ally.

They mostly manufacture home improvement stuff for home depot/lowes and the like. From my understanding its 60% that, and then 40% is regular warehouse shipping stuff.

No idea what the industry standard for their positions are or if they’re paid comparable. They all seemed to really like the company though and the one guy who’s my dads friend drives a pretty nice car lol.

From my understanding its a very unique business. They have like 30k different skus for the raw materials they use to manufacture stuff for home improvement. They make stuff like doors, door knobs, tracts for mobile homes, windows etc. So their skills are very specific to that company. If you go into any hardware improvement store you probably see a good amount of their stuff so its not like they’re a tiny business. They also sell stuff on Amazon.

Thanks. I am an ally of the right of immigrants to get jobs.

Can one of the “everyone who runs or owns a business is pure evil” people here explain what your solution is in this case? He gave a bunch of people jobs, sounds like he promoted them. Let’s assume they don’t have healthcare (even though we don’t know that) because they are undocumented and can’t apply for it.

What is the actual solution? Should he not hire them?

“Clear out your desk by nine, ICE are coming.”

Awesome job.

It begins with him not supporting Trump. Why and how he came to be in the position he is and still support Trump is YOUR problem to explain, not mine. I have my answer - he’s a greedy sack of shit quite indifferent to the wellbeing of those around him who deserves neither gratitude nor the presumption of good intent - you seem to think that’s not quite right.

I’d ask what you do think is right, but honestly? I don’t care.

Bottom line, I think he’d be getting a pass had he done all of these things while actively supporting someone like Sanders, showing some awareness of the system while doing what he could to keep his business functional without fucking over workers too hard. The Trump support implies that he was oblivious–perhaps he was relatively benevolent compared to his peers, but not because of any sort of sense of justice, fairness, or equality.

Being a trump supporter is bad. No question. Funny how you focus on the point I already conceded in my original post. However it doesn’t answer my question.

How is hiring immigrants bad? Should he not hire them? This is one of those places where people’s abstract political ideas come face-to-face with the real world.
