It might have been part of the reason, but mostly it was that he wanted to expand to the point of dominating all finance while the others thought it was too risky and wanted to focus on the existing business. Musk still thinks it would have been a trillion dollar company.

I watched the video and have no idea what the advantage is. Sure you don’t have to turn the steering wheel as far, but so what? I’ve never felt that was an issue while driving.
I feel it’s like paddle shifters - or putting the gear box on the ceiling - it’s sort of cool because it’s different, but has no actual benefit.
I realize we’re like 10 scandals past this now, but solid analysis (as always):

The ability to move the tires a lot with small movements of the steering wheel at low speeds and also move them a little with the same steering wheel inputs at high speeds will be a game changer.
This sounds like the Hyundai uni wheel.
