Breyer, reiterating that the jury would need to stick to the case’s evidence, said candidates’ answers to the pre-selection questionnaire featured many complaints about Musk, his companies and his political leanings. When around three dozen people raised their hands to say they couldn’t ignore their biases, the judge cut them from the pool.
Others were then questioned — making it obvious that some hatred for Musk had made it through the first cut. According to Law360, one candidate said, “In a criminal trial, I would feel morally obligated to convict, however, in a civil trial I could set those views aside,” adding, “I believe it would be to the benefit of the human race for Mr. Musk to be sent to prison.”
“I don’t believe the loss of several hundreds of millions of dollars in civil trial will be even a drop in the bucket to his wealth,” he reportedly said. “So it doesn’t really matter.”
The outlet noted that he did not make it onto the jury, and neither did a woman who said Musk has “no moral compass” and “used his wealth to buy votes.” The judge also dismissed a candidate who said they disagree with the “existence of billionaires” and another who noted their dislike for Musk’s firing of Twitter content moderators, Bloomberg Law reported.
I glad I’m not a Seahawks fan. I guess they’re technically my second favorite team, but it’s a distant second. When they shipped I felt next to nothing, but I was happy for them.
George Preston Marshall was a supporter of racial segregation and was the last NFL owner to integrate African Americans onto a roster, only doing so in 1962 amid pressure from the federal government who threatened to block the use of D.C. Stadium.
The George Preston Marshall Foundation serves the interests of children in the Washington metropolitan area. Marshall added a caveat that no money from the foundation would ever go toward “any purpose which supports the principle of racial integration in any form”; however, this requirement was thrown out by the courts.
Marshall was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame with its inaugural class of 1963.
